Very bright light, pretty easy to install
I installed this light a week ago and Iโm pretty happy with it so far. I especially like the three brightness settings available by simply flipping the wall light switch. The medium brightness setting is plenty bright for me... Iโve never done much of anything home electrical, but I overcame that fear and it went fine. Our old fluorescent kitchen light was humming and barely working, so I wanted an LED replacement. This new light is much brighter and silent. It uses far less power, doesnโt require bulbs, and is much lighter weight than our old light. When I removed the old light, the wires were just coming out of an opening in the ceiling with no box. I attached the round mounting plate to the ceiling and managed to get the light onto one screw in the plate. But the light is mostly being held into the ceiling by the other four screws, two on each end of the light. I highly recommend upgrading the included drywall plastic anchors and screws with some better quality ones from the hardware store. Same for the wire nut twist connectors. I did use the included wire nuts and it worked fine. But afterwards I watched a video about electrical work which showed much better quality ones which are more reliable. The wire connection was the easiest part. Getting the light lined up and screwed in is most of the work. It helps to have a partner since youโre fighting gravity the whole time.

Would buy again in a second!!
My husband installed it so it was ridiculously easy for me. Ha! He said it was super easy. The reason I gave the install a 4 instead of a 5 was because you could see the wires through the cover and he had to go to the store and buy some white gorilla tape (white duct tape would have been fine) to cover them up. I took two pictures with the kitchen light off so you could see it mounted. I only took a picture with the light on one time because it looked so bright in my camera I wasn't sure it would come out. And that was on low - you heard me. With a flick of the light switch this smooth, sleek thing goes from low to medium to "My gosh! You can see in here!! (Well, that's what the blind man told us anyhow.) We had a clunky wooden framed fluorescent fixture before and this is stylish. I loved the idea of taking away the frame so the light would reach out farther. Value for money? I feel like I robbed them I got so much value for my money! I could not be happier with my purchase.

BEWARE!
Updated Review January 2024My initial review of this was "1 star" due to the light failing within 2 years and the seemingly impossible process of contacting the manufacturer. Eventually, with the help of Amazon Customer Support (itself a difficult process), I was able to contact the manufacturer. After a few follow up questions, TychoLite said they would send me a replacement. Two weeks later the replacement arrived. I have not installed it yet, but I am pleased with the eventual outcome. The light should be able to last for 20+ years. If it fails again in a couple years, I will be disappointed and downgrade my rating.I purchased this light July 23, 2021 and installed it shortly after it arrived. The installation was easy, the light was bright, and the fixture looked great. In December 2023 sections of the LED strips in the light failed, and the light is only half as bright. The description in the Amazon features section says the light will last 27 years at the rate of 5 hours usage per day. I have found no way to contact Tycholite. This is highly unusual.I attempted to locate information on how to contact Tycholite, searched Duck Duck Go, Google, Wikipedia, no contact information anywhere.Amazon provides no way to contact seller. The link to the Tycholite store provides no contact info, only a listing of more fixtures.Amazonโs link to โReport problem with this product or sellerโ is dead, nothing.Amazon link to product warranty takes you to a page that says โcontact seller directly or see seller websiteโ. Useless. All this makes me suspect of a poorly built product hidden by lots of hyperbole. Coupled with no support and no way to contact the seller.I will continue to seek the seller and will update my review based on what I find.As of now, I recommend you look to another seller and manufacturer. This is ridiculous.

Nice looking light fixture
While it took some time to get figure out how to open and close the fixture, it was actually easy to install, making it easier as it is very lightweight. It is bright, but the light color was different from what we had before, but months later, is looks great and illuminate the entire kitchen.

Looks good, costs little
I had an industrial 4-foot fluorescent shop light in my closet. It was ugly, but it worked, so ... whatever. I ignored it. Then the bulbs burnt out, as they always do. So I took the opportunity to rip it out entirely and replace it with this LED light. Pretty happy with it. It's CCJ (Cheap Chinese Junk) but it looks fine up on the ceiling, and it looks way better than that shop light ever did, and the light is good and bright, and it was really inexpensive, so ... yeah, I like it fine for the price.

Replaced a two Tube fluorescent fixture.
I replaced a 20-year-old, 4 foot long, 2 tube fluorescent tube fixture with this unit because the ballast was going bad. The tubes were flickering and exchanging lamps with my shop light, made no improvement. This unit is perfect with just two rows of LED's (see room lighting photo).I was originally concerned that I needed the more expensive ($100) unit with 4 rows of LEDs. A 4-row unit would have been way too bright! Our laundry room is 8 feet w x 10 feet long with a 7-foot-long x 2-foot-deep pantry/closet along the wall not seen in the photo. The pantry is now much better lighted than with the old fluorescent fixture as well. The old fixture was mounted to the sheet rock ceiling with Moly-bolts. I could not use the supplied mounting plate and hardware because I did not have an electrical j-box in the ceiling. The house wiring passed directly through hole in the ceiling and a bushing in the center of the old fixture and terminated in the wiring trough to the ballast. I unwired the old ballast and asked my neighbor to help me remove the old fixture.I reused the bushing from the original fixture and remounted it with two new Moly-bolts. The new fixture is easy to handle by just one person because it is so light. It has two holes on 43" centers, so it was easy to enlarge the old holes in the ceiling which were on 44" centers to fix. I put new Moly-bolts on the fixture and popped them in and tightened them up.One reviewer expressed concern that the fixture was too flimsily. I did not find this to be the case. There is no need for a heavy fixture. All it has are two strips of LED "Tape" and an electronic unit. It just needs to be rigid enough to hold the diffuser in place. The fixture is easy to handle and to mount by just one person. Once in place, the ceiling keeps it rigid.I shortened the house wiring to match the length of the new fixture leads and used the wiring tabs to hold the wiring in place. No need to use something else to keep the wiring from casting shadow on the diffuser. See the second photo.Removal and reinstallation of the plastic diffuser is much easier once you understand that there are soft plastic stops at each end of the fixture to keep the diffuser centered. Just deflect the diffuser as shown in the instruction and slide it to one side to remove. Do this in reverse order to reinstall.

Incredible Lighting at a Reasonable Price
OK, I absolutely could not stand the 4' fluorescent fixtures in my Master BR closet anymore. I decided when a ballast went bad on one of the 2, I would just replace with LED fixtures. After a lot of research, decided to use this fixture due to low provide (2" from ceiling) & I personally believe that most likely all LED's on such lights & their ballasts come from China anyway. These are lightweight & brighter than my prior fixtures - my wife & I like them a lot. The original electrician did not use a junction box, so I had to affix the wiring inside the fixture itself using a collar on the punch out - it was easy to do & so light that four mounting screws hold everything tightly in place. I'm going to use this company to replace 2 other closets's lights, the laundry room, & the pantry.
