Great! Two noteworthy topics, however...
Been installed for about 5 months now, works great for us, powering 2- 6โ Pyle ceiling speakers in the kitchen & dining area, to spread the sound out from the main system in the living room. Couple of things: 1. the base and receiver are both powered with transformers and stay on all the time. Plenty of things in your house have transformers that stay plugged in & powered up continuously, but for this device, I wanted to power it down when not in use, to extend service life, etc. So I plugged the base transformer into the switched outlet on my a/v receiver. I do have to manually plug/unplug the receiver transformer in the laundry room, and there is a little โpopโ each time this happens, but not a big deal. 2. Pay attention to speaker connections with a home theater/subwoofer type system. To get the best, full-range sound, the inputs need to be full range, which may take some finagling (this is not the fault of the Amphony device however). Since our receiver has the 7 โsmallโ speakers (the โsizeโ of the connected speaker is selected internally by the receiver) and a subwoofer, and no full-range line or speaker-level output, I had to use a Y connection from subwoofer output ALONG WITH the speaker-level inputs from the front satellite speakers to the base unit to get a complete, full range sound sent to the receiving unit for the kitchen speakers. When I connected everything using just the โsmallโ size front speakers, the kitchen speakers sounded thin and tinny. But now they sound awesome! Hope all that made sense, GL!

Worked for a little while
Says the return period is 30 days. It worked great for a few months. Now no matter how many times I pair, unplug, replug, power on and off, turn the dials up and down, whatever, there is mostly static, even when the receiver is off. When it's on, I can sometimes hear the music very, very, faintly and it's overpowered by the static. I've got $100 worth of worthless plastic with some circuit boards inside. Don't be fooled.

Worked well for 4 years
I bought my first Amphony wireless speaker kit 5 years ago to connect my surround speakers and avoid running cables through walls & ceilings. The system was easy to install and the sound from my speakers was excellent. Unfortunately, several months ago the sound from my rear speakers started to break up. I tried all of the suggestions in the user manual to correct the problem which could be caused by interference. None of these solutions worked so I order a new kit. As soon as I replaced the transmitter, the problem was corrected, with no need to replace the amplifier. One possible cause of the failure was due to leaving the transmitter being plugged in all the time. As one Comment suggested, the transmitter can be plugged into the switched outlet on your receiver, if you have that option, to extend the life. My current Yamaha receiver does not have that option so I will try to unplug it manually when not in use.

So much for so little
This Amphony 1700 is quite a potent little package. I was looking for a way to get music to my back garage. I spend a lot of time there working on my cars and tractors and the local radio stations leave a lot to be desired. I decided to look into wireless transmission. I have a total distance of 85' from transmitter to receiver, in a separate building. The 1700 offers an amplified receiver which eliminates the need for a separate amp in the garage. It is rated at 100' through walls which is more than some of the more expensive units. I've not had good luck in the past with advertised ranges for other wireless devices so I contacted a seller (HIFI Corner) and asked if they thought it would work for my conditions. They said it should but, if not, I could return it, so, I ordered it. Boy am I glad I did ! Although 85' is probably its building to building limit, with careful positioning and aiming, the sound quality is excellent. I'm driving two way, double chamber reflex speakers ( w/ 8" woofers, 5" h/f drivers) with the 40W x 2 receiver/amp. I was expecting a tinny, AM radio sound (which would have been acceptable) but the sound is rich and colorful - a splendid surprise. Now I can hear any of my music, CDs, vinyl, cable music stations, in its full glory while my hands are covered with grease and oil up to my elbows. For my installation (at the limit) I found that mounting units as high as possible helps. This is a new installation and I hope it will last a long time. UPDATE: It's March 2019. After 2 1/2 years, the 1700 is still working fine, no problems. I've just added a second receiver for my shop in the basement. It, of course, works fine because it doesn't challenge the limits of range. I'm still amazed at the sound quality. I couldn't find a seller for the receiver (R1700) alone and the Amphony Web Shop doesn't accept PayPal on their web page. I contacted Amphony.com and they were happy to charge my order to PayPal. It's a very good company to do business with and their products are top notch. (I do hope they will include PayPal in the future)

Stopped working after 3 years. Twice. I give up.
I bought this to replace the prior model, which I had for 3 years. (The prior one started giving me static.) This unit was easy to install -- much easier than drilling holes in the floor and crawling around under the floor. The sound is just fine. Several audio connection options on the sending unit. I set the volume knobs at the mid-point and let the receiver balance everything for me. Piece of cake. *** I am updating this review after having my 2nd model for 3 years. This one has stopped working, too. Now I have gone through two of these units, and I give up. I have temporarily run a 4-wire cable along the perimeter of the room to my rear speakers. When the weather gets warmer, I will venture into the crawl space under my den to run the cable out of site.

Worked for two years.
Worked for two years then the left channel started making noises even when the source was off. I thought there was a mouse or something but noise was from the speaker. Reset everything, powered cycled everything. When the receiver/amp still made the same exact noises with the transmitter unpowered figured it was not working right. Also noticed it sparks when you plug it in, but still works with the noises so I'm assuming a power input capacitor is failing or failed. I've seen other write-ups with similar failures. Too bad I liked it when it was working.

Very Happy Movie Watcher
I am very happy with the Amphony wireless speaker kit. It worked just as I had hoped. Installing it was mostly easy, especially since I am comfortable with speaker/stereo wiring. The instructions would rate a "B" even though I only referenced them for one thing and that had to do with pairing. They were probably paired out of the box, but there was no visual indication they had paired when I followed the steps. I did it several times before turning my stereo on and realizing they were working fine. One other note would be there is a level adjustment on the sender unit as well as a volume adjustment on the receiver. I noticed some distortion and easily took care of it by turning down the level it was transmitting at. I used the speaker out connections from my HK unit as the source.

AVOID!!!! AVOID!!!!! AVOID!!!!!
This is the worst review I've ever written for a product. While there have been some bad reviews for these speaker kits, I've tended to ignore them assuming that people's expectations for a product such as this shouldn't be too high. Also, people who love things and people who hate things are the most likely to take the trouble to write reviews. People who are simply satisfied may not be motivated enough to write. So, the story is that like anyone interested in wireless speakers, I wanted to get rid of the wires running across my living room floor from the receiver to the surround speakers at the opposite side of the room. Some months ago, I bought my first Amphony wireless speaker device. I barely used it before it finally stopped working. However, that was maybe a year or more from the date of purchase and the warranty expired. My bad luck. Assuming that first experience was a fluke, I ordered a second speaker kit. I barely used it and the transmitter failed after a few weeks, still within the warranty period. I contact Amphony and received a reply relatively promptly offering a warranty replacement or refund. I wrote back saying that since this is my second bad unit in a row, I'll take the refund. Since then they have been silent even though I've contacted them a couple more times. I also contacted the seller (not Amazon) who has also been ignoring me entirely. After contemplating the speaker wire problem for a while, I realize that my best solution is to carefully drill some holes in the floor and run wires in the crawlspace. I would try Bluetooth speakers, but I have an older audiophile system and hate to replace the speakers with potentially inferior sounding ones. Hence, I'm stuck with wires for a while. As for the sound when the Amphonys were working: OK at best. Lots of pops, issues with dropped signals, distortion and certainly not high fidelity at all. However, I would have lived with that if they were not cheaply manufactured junk. Net-net I'm out $200 or so and experienced a lot of aggravation.
