Fun travel chess
I bought this because my son loves chest and he really loved this it's very sturdy board and you can turn board around and the pieces stay on the bord so to the somewhat magnetic board keeps them in place yet you are able to move properly also each piece has a place they fit snuggly so they don't get lost and it's light weight so you can take it with you where ever you go

Great magnetic board
This game is great for kids who might knock over the pieces, or when you want to save your game. It’s good for traveling, but it’s a little bulky to fit in a carryon. The pieces are nice wood for the price. It would make a good gift!

Great Gift!
The pieces are a good size and made of wood. Good for traveling and will most likely last for quite some time.

Great travel or rainy-day chess set.
This set is smaller than a standard board, but it’s still a comfortable size. You feel like you’re playing an adult game, not some plastic thing made for children that your grown-up hands are too big for.The board is well built and not going to fall apart. Finger-jointed corners mean you’ll probably break the wood itself before those joints fail. Unfortunately, it appears mine was banged around a bit to test that theory. The joints held fine, but two of the corners of the fiberboard top got smooshed a bit.The playing surface looks great. It’s a high-definition print of an actual inlaid top, and looks like the real deal. It appears to be some kind of vinyl layer, which must be over a sheet of metal, which is then over a fiberboard layer. The entire top surface is magnetic, not just the center of the squares. The latch is a little crooked, but it works just fine and mine’s not going into a beauty contest. The hinges protrude out the back just a tad, but it still stands up itself, and looks good on a bookshelf. The pieces are nice for a set at this price point. They have lots of detail, and are sanded and clear-coated. The bases have a magnet inside, which is covered by a felt disk. The magnetic strength on the board is adequate for use in a vehicle, and will withstand any bumping or tipping of the board.I wish magnetic checkers came with the board, but I guess you can’t have everything. This chess set is perfect for travel, camping, or just a rainy day and it won’t break the bank.Hope this helps.

Compact But Still Large Enough For Playing Comfortably
A magnetic travel chess set small enough to pack but large enough to use comfortably. The board is about 11 1/4" square in total with the playing area about 10" square. The folded board is held shut with a sturdy clasp and has a plastic surface that will be easy to wipe clean if necessary. The king is approximately 2 1/4" tall and the pawns about 1 1/8" tall. The pieces are held tightly in cutout foam with a velvety surface so there was no mess to sort out when opening the board. I was surprised to find that there are 2 queens for each color! Each piece is magnetic so I tested the strength of the magnets by putting a few of them on the board and then propping it up in an A-frame shape - see my photos. None of the men shifted or fell with the board at such a crazy angle. Even with the magnets in each piece it was still easy to move them across the board. I liked the fact that they will stay in place even if the board is jostled: that will come in handy while playing in a car or on a plane. The set comes packed in a box and has cellophane wrap sealing the folding board closed.A very nice set for travel or for bringing to school.

This passes as a closet game when I'm bored. POOR/CHEAP CONSTRUCTION
This chess board serves a purpose. If you want to have a board tucked away nice and neat, bring it out on certain occasions, don't care too much about the detail of the product, then this product is for you. The craftsmanship of the board looks to be very cheaply done. It's not aligned and the pieces are very sloppily painted.I have no formal plans to display this at some chess convention, but it's convenient to have around for when a guest and I want to play a round or two. The magnets on the bottom are convenient and they hold well outside if it's windy. All the parts are obviously cheap and the craftsmanship is rather poor. There is also a pretty bad smell of the paint or foam once you open it up. If either of those don't bother you and you're just wanting a small and convenient board, this is for you. But if you're looking for a more quality build, I urge you to skip this product.

Beautifully constructed traveling chess set that works great for camping trips
This is a very nicely built traveling chess set that has some very nice and unique features. The feature that really stands out is the magnetic chess pieces that do a good job of adhering to the board which is a great feature to have for travel as it prevents the pieces from getting lost or misplaced. The sleek all wood design is also quite eye-catching, making it a great conversation piece around the campsite or when you are traveling to a friends place. Whether you're an experienced chess enthusiast or simply looking for a new travel game, this chess set is sure to provide hours of fun for both adults and children as well. This would also make a very nice gift for any chess players in your life that also enjoy traveling or camping.

Light for travel, but very good quality
I wanted to get a good chess board for travel, but not some cheap feeling plastic one. This one fills the bill nicely. I really like the feel and function of this set. The board is all wood, and folds in half to store the pieces. They fit into individually molded pockets in the inside of the board so the don't roll around. The magnets hold very well also, but don't feel like they are holding at all when you move a piece. I even held the board up vertically, and they all stayed in place.
