Suck it up buttercup!
This product is what it says it is. It is a "commercial" french fry cutter. It is "heavy duty." Being heavy duty means that the equipment will withstand the force required to press a solid object (the potato) against a set of stationary blades. The product itself works, dependent upon the user's strength to press the handle down forcing the potato through the grid of blades. Do you need to be quite strong to operate this device? Yes. If you want to use this on a sweet potato you need to use the largest blade set and the strongest person in the house. For all those reviewers that couldn't cut sweet potatoes on this...you're doing it wrong.

Changing blades is pretty easy, but changing the pushers requires a screwdriver
Definitely a quality product, however, I'm not so sure about the quality control at the factory and the packaging. When I opened the box I was surprised to find the blades and pushers just floating around in there unsecured. That's a lot of heavy metal to just be banging around inside the box. When I examined the contents the first thing I notices was that the 1/4 inch blade, the one I really wanted, had a stripped screw hole which holds one of the plates on. The plates hold the blades in place. The screw would not stay in.The second thing I noticed was that instead of the large wedge blade and pusher I got a second middle-sized fry blade and pusher, 3/8, I think.Changing blades is pretty easy, but changing the pushers requires a screwdriver, though it's only 2 screws and they are large enough that you won't lose them easily. Still, a bit of a hassle, but I'm not an engineer, so I don't know that I could do any better with the design if I were. In fact I would expect to have issues aligning the blades with the pushers so that they pusher "pins" go through the holes, but it works perfectly every time without ever hitting so I'm betting the mechanical engineers who designed it know something I don't about making something like this work flawlessly every time.I called the company, explained the problems and in under 5 minutes, with absolutely zero hassle, I had a replacement for the broken blade and the missing blade and pusher coming. This company is all about customer service. I feel kind of bad giving only a 4 star rating, but can't see giving a 5 star rating when it arrived with wrong and broken parts. Broken, I can see. Especially with the blades unsecured in the box. Things happen. But a wrong part, that's a little harder to accept as it falls under the category of quality control. This is one of the more expensive units I looked at. I paid more because I expected more. A broken part AND a wrong part, though, I just can't give 5 stars after that. But this company earned every one of the stars I did give and then some.

1920's technology - Its sturdy, but it has some serious design flaws when you consider its premium price.
I just got mine and since I paid 6 times as much for this cutter as I paid for my older one from Amazon, that broke under light usage, I had high expectations of no more mashed vegetables. I've used it twice now and I'm not real happy. I may return it. Why?1) the discussion about cubing the vegetables can be misleading if you don't read carefully. if you want 1/2" cubes you have to push the vegie through 1/2" at a time, then slide a sharp knife in between the cutter and the frame to cut off the cubes each time -- and there isn't really much room to slide the knife into, and no guides in the frame to keep the knife properly aligned. It could have been designed a lot better and for the premium product in the product line I would have expected that.2) the first thing I cut was Jicama -- a very crisp root vegie for those unfamiliar with it. The machine mashed the Jicama. I tried several times and my later attempts were more successful, but I never got a clean cut. Not even close.3) so I tried a potato, which has about the same density as the Jicama. That worked a lot better, BUT the pushers on the pusher plate (that pushes the vegie through the cutter) aren't long enough to push the vegie all the way through the cutter, so I ended up with french fry size cuts on one side of the cutter, all attached to eachother on the other side of the cutter, and NO WAY to get the potato all the way through the cutter. I ended up cutting off the part of the potato that was still behind the cutter and throwing it away. Then the potato was still stuck in the cutter and I ruined some of the fries trying to get it out. I can not see any reason why its not designed to complete the cuts on the potato and eliminate waste.4) the cutters and the push plates are well made otherwise, BUT you have to go find a screwdriver if you want to switch to a different size cutter and pusher. There are lots of ways to firmly attach parts on a consumer device without requiring screwdrivers. So its not like I can easily cut several different kinds of vegies into different sizes, easily and quickly switching cutter sizes as needed. I think this is designed for a food prep operation where they cut the same vegie for maybe an hour at a time - not for a regular family kitchen where you need to do a variety of things and convenience is very important.I would call this technology from about 1920, not from 2018. Yup, I should return it. I wonder if any of the other models are any better.

NO HARDWARE INCLUDED TO ATTACH THE HANDLE TO THE CUTTER
I have recently received my order and was going to try it yesterday, BUT there were no bolts and nuts included to the package to attach the handle to the cutter. I finally managed to find some usable hardware at my home to attach the handle temporary and to try the cutter. It works pretty good on potato (I have not tried it on anything else so far) thought it takes much more effort than I expected. Seems to be a good quality and durable, time will show. I just want to receive the bolts and nuts for the handle from the shipper. Then will update my review to 4 or 5 stars.Update on Feb. 13th, 2018. There is no response from seller so far. I DO NOT RECOMMEND BUYING THIS PRODUCT. It comes incomplete, lacking some really critical hardware.

Great Product. Excellent service from Amazon.CA
Received the french fry cutter today after a two week delay thanks to Canada Post labour dispute. I had an issue with my original order and made an electronic chat with an amazon.ca rep. His service was awesome and he solved the issue within minutes. Thanks Amazon! The french fry cutter is definitely heavy duty and cuts through potatoes with ease. Great Product. Packaging could be better. (Loose items in box)
