Not my normal type of book to read but it was quite a good read.

Couldn't out it down. Read it in one day. Another gripping story from the fabulous B A Paris. Can't wait to read the next one.

I got this book on a Kindle Daily Deal, for 99p, after having seen it having a major stand in Booths Bookshop in Hay on Wye. I naively thought it must be good!I had heard of the author but not previously read any of her books. While I finished the book because I did want to find out ‘who done it’ I found the writing lazy, there were many plot holes and ‘oh really🤨’ moments where chief characters behaviours were implausible, but these attitudes and behaviours were not addressed by other characters or if they were, simply glossed over.It also felt to me that there was a lack of decent back stories for each of the characters. While they were implied, in the event they were glossed over or ignored, which left them feeling one dimensional and unbelievable as the complex beings I think we were meant to see them as. I found this very unsatisfying.Also - the intermittent chapters titled ‘The Past’. What were they about? Meant to rack up the tension? Give an insight into the inner world of therapists? Give a shock reveal towards the end of the book? I don’t think so.As someone who has had a career working as a practicing clinical psychologist this, for me, was the ultimate lie in the book. It simply doesn’t work like that. That’s not to say therapists aren’t as flawed as anyone else, it is to say there’s a bit more to it! Try the Frieda Klein series by Nicci French.Am I pleased I finished it? Yes, a brain holiday for a few days away. Will I read more of this authors books? Absolutely not. It’s back to Le Carre, Faulks, Boyd etc. for decent literature, and Nicci French, Ambrose Parry, Andrew Taylor, Anthony Horowitz etc for a decent murder mystery/crime story.

This is a good thriller a good twist well written i really enjoyed it and will read more from B A Paris

I loved this book every time I thought I knew what was going on there was a twist.it was wonderfully dark don't trust anyone

Kept me engaged and gave up a whole day to read to the end. Don’t regret the lost day - well worth the read.
