Works fine and appears to be accurate. I’m using it for general purpose DIY stuff so I can’t comment on its accuracy being sufficient for the micro measurements needed for fine electronic components testing, but it did fine measuring the capacitor on my air conditioner (which is not a micro measurement). Continuity, diodes, voltage (both ac and dc) seem to be working fine. I’m used to the old school meters that use a multitude of selector settings so I’m still getting used to the general auto range and function button operation. I consider myself to be a novice, but I already know what those different functions are used for and how easy it is to ruin a meter when used incorrectly, but a 100% complete beginner novice needs to do some reading and develop an understanding of general electrical and electronic functions to get the most out of…well, most any multimeter. If you don’t understand why it’s not a good idea to measure high amp/current flow via direct contact with a handheld multimeter, please do some reading before attempting to do so. I have not tested the non contact voltage function nor the amp/current function via the conductive clamp, but if I have trouble with them, you’ll see it as an edit to this post. I have to say that for the price, this multimeter is extremely well packed with function features. A similar meter from a high end brand would be ten times the price. Again, I just got this one but my experience with entry level price point meters has demonstrated a loss of voltage accuracy over time. (Over time equals 3 or 4. The trick is finding out if it’s years, months, or even days in some cases) There’s no way to calibrate price point meters like what the pros do with the multimeters they mortgaged their house for, so keep that in mind. If you are measuring residential a/c voltage and you’re off by a half or even a whole volt, it’s not really going to make a difference, but if you’re working on a car or inside a computer, a half a volt could be the make or break on your diagnosis. I learned on old school analog meters so I already know multimeters are delicate instruments used to take fine measurements, so do your best to not drop them, don’t toss them in your tool box, do not let them get wet, don’t store them in high humidity or high or low temp environments, change the battery(s) at least annually, and don’t pick them up by the test leads, and they will be more dependable over a longer period of time. If for any reason you let the magic smoke out of your multimeter, it will no longer be good for anything other than a conversation piece. Old school analog meters with all of these functions didn’t even exist and if they did it would be all I could do to lift it and the price would exceed that of the average car. Now I’m not in a faraday cage testing mother boards or printed circuit components, but all things considered, for 40 dollars this multimeter is very impressive and a good buy. I’ve already got 40 dollars worth of value out of it so even if I only get a year of use out of it, I’ll be happy.

UPDATE (After Replacement): After posting my original review, AstroAI reached out and sent me a replacement unit at no cost. The replacement multimeter works exactly as it should and has been excellent so far. It’s clear now that my original unit was defective. The new one does not power cycle when turning the dial, does not shut off unexpectedly, and continuity checks are instant and reliable every time. No missed beeps, no having to cycle modes to wake it up. The rotary switch feels solid, mode changes are consistent, and overall it behaves like a properly designed and assembled meter should. I use continuity and basic electrical checks frequently, and the difference between the defective unit and the replacement is night and day. With a properly working unit, this meter is fast, accurate, and genuinely enjoyable to use. Just as important, AstroAI’s customer support was some of the best in the industry, and their responsiveness and how quickly they handled the situation goes a long way. I’ve left the original video intact in case anyone else is experiencing a similar issue, know that this isn’t standard behavior for this device. Original review below: ------------ There's some sort of design flaw with the dial and the contacts, just cycling through the different modes causes the multimeter to power cycle, sometimes it just completely powers off while changing modes. I use it a lot for continuity checks, and there's been many instances where I touch the leads and they don't register unless I cycle through the modes again. This happens with both the original batteries as well as brand new batteries. The video attached shows the issue, I'm guessing I just have a defective unit because I'd love for it to work as well as it does for everyone else.

Having been an automotive tech in a past life, specializing in electrical, I can confidently say this is plenty good for basic automotive electrical troubleshooting needs. And it's sturdy enough for that work. I was quickly able to diagnose a suspected problem with an RV DC-DC converter that had me guessing between a faulty breaker and/or the charger itself. It appears it will do fine for my DIY exploits on 120VAC for the house and appliances. Here's is something the manufacturer can improve upon, IMHO. Documentation. I've never used a clamp meter for working on AC circuits until now, but I assumed that like DC, only one conductor can be tested at a time. That turned out to be true for this device. Or in other words, do not clamp this directly onto, say, the cord of a household appliance and expect to get results. You will not because opposing polarity conductors that close to each other nullify the magnetic fields of each other. I noticed they do not call this out in their manual [they do in the product description here, though]. I believe that may introduce some confusion. Also, I'm assuming "hard wired" current readings intensionally do not work. They do not on mine and the manual isn't clear regarding this. However, I didn't buy it for that. I primarily need inductive current readings, so the other features I see as a bonus. Especially the near field/live circuit testing for AC work as my previous tester went missing. I'm not sure it's "Fluke" accurate, but it's been more than good enough where applicable. I do use a Fluke on my bench on "little stuff", where high accuracy is a need. I don't think this is truly intended for ma/mv use. Or in other words, it may be capable of that resolution, but it would not be my first pick as a daily driver for working on "little stuff". Seems plenty good so far to toss in a tool bag/box for automotive and house needs. It's a nice, rugged little meter at a low price.

Excellent for the money, and would be a great buy at twice the price or more. As received, my copy is considerably more accurate than it's listed specs -- I have a couple high end HP and Fluke multimeters and I found this little Astro AI measures AC and DC voltages within 0.2% of those meters in the tests I ran from low millivolt sources to power line at 122 VAC. The features are the most comprehensive I've seen on a multimeter, with such functions as resistance and diode measurements, frequency measurement, the Hold button, the Live and No Contact voltage sensing, and the non-contact current measuring system making it an all-in-one electrical measurement tool. Time will tell if the accuracy remains stable, but even if the calibration error doubles or triples, it will still meet 99% of my needs and likely 100% of what most people need.. BTW, don't be fooled by the description of the color as Blue - it's a deep red-orange as shown on the order page, which is fine with me.

Nice multimeter. Keeps it simple for use and settings. Pretty solid construction. Optional back-lit screen is a nice touch. So far,it's accurate as best as I can tell. Reads very close if not spot on with others.

Aucun soucis à signaler sur mon modèle 4000, tous les commentaires négatifs que j'ai lu n'impactent pas le miens, par exemple : - test 4A DC : mesure à 4A +/- 1% environ, le placement du câble dans la pince faisant varier légèrement la mesure, je n'ai pas encore testé la fonction A/AC vu que j'ai pris ce modèle en grande priorité pour sa capacité A/DC. - test 30.00V DC : mesure 30.00 V ; j'ai fait d'autres mesures à 20V, 4,2V et 1V avec la même précision. Je ne vais pas aller plus loin dans le détail, toutes les autres fonctions marchent de façon nominales, j'ai juste un doute sur des mesures de rapport cyclique qui ne sont pas conforme quand j'arrive près de 10 ou de 90 % mais j'utilise un petit module chinois très basique pour la génération et ça peut largement expliquer l'erreur. Le cordon fourni mesure 1 mètre, aucun souci pour l'insérer une fois les capuchons de protections retirés 😊 (sans mes lunettes, je me suis fait piéger !) Bref, pour moi, dans l'état actuel de mes test, c'est un très bon appareil.

Good multimeter, would have been even better with English printed manual. Now I had to visit some website to get it and print it. Convenient with current measurement in the claw. It differs some from the battery chargers current meter, I wonder which one is correct....

Hace tiempo me hice con una pinza de una marca china y me dio mal resultado, tiempo después me hice con un multímetro de esta marca y me encantó, funciona muy bien lleva años conmigo y no tengo queja. Visto lo bien que me funciona el multímetro de AstroAI y viendo que estaba en oferta esta pinza amperimétrica decidí lanzarme a probarla, además tenia una opción que necesitaba que es la de medir corriente en continua en lugar de solo alterna. Trae un estuche donde viene la pinza con los cables, y en un hueco el manual, yo aproveche ese hueco para meterle unos destornilladores Philips y otro buscapolos de pala que siempre vienen bien. Respecto a la pinza por ahora solo he podido hacer un par de pruebas, funciona bastante bien por el precio que tiene, pero si he de decir que he notado un pequeño retraso en la función NCV cuando acercas a un conductor con corriente tarda en detectar y pitar y lo mismo cuando lo alejas. Ademas a veces es muy impreciso te pita como alto voltaje para un cable con 5/12 V (cargador de móvil) y no pita con un cable con 20 V (cargador de portátil), y otras veces no lo detecta directamente. Otra función que falla es la de medir frecuencia como se puede ver en la foto adjunta, si se mide frecuencia con la luz de la pantalla encendida se vuelve loco y no es capaz de dar una medida correcta ni aceptable, con la pantalla apagada parece funcionar perfectamente. La función de continuidad parece tener un retraso también en el tiempo de respuesta desde que haces contacto hasta que pita y a veces le cuesta pitar aun cuando hay una conductividad perfecta. El resto de funciones que he podido probar por ahora (voltaje alterna y continua, corriente alterna y continua y resistencia) parecen ir muy bien, quizás sea fallo de esta unidad, para descartar un fallo de la pila que trae de serie que llevará tiempo montada en el aparato, he repetido las pruebas con pilas nuevas llegando prácticamente al mismo resultado. Es una pena porque las primeras impresiones cuando lo desempaquetas son muy buenas, un tamaño agradable en mano, pruebas a medir corriente, tensión... todo parece ir perfecto y cuando pruebas otras funciones empiezas a descubrir pequeños fallos que por si solos igual no son gran cosa pero cuando tienes en cuenta todos en conjunto hacen que no pueda darle la nota que esperaba. Si después de más uso cambia mi opinión editare la reseña, o en caso de ver que estos fallos son tal como parece un fallo del producto pediré la garantía y editaré la reseña con el reemplazo confirmando si es problema del mi aparato o fallo de diseño. Actualizo: Se ha puesto en contacto el vendedor conmigo para ofrecerme una solución (enviarme otra pinza o reembolso) el trato impecable, tal como estaba acostumbrado por otros productos de la marca, por eso le doy las 5 estrellas. La verdad que viendo el buen servicio postventa (ojalá otros vendedores tuvieran un servicio postventa así) y mi experiencia con otros productos de la marca, recomiendo la compra.
