lovely bright cover which leads you to a completely black and white book. Considering the whole book consists of screenshots from old 8-bit games which usually rely on colour so that the player can understand whats going on.The information given is extremely basic and tends to be patronising and never really goes into much detail about the game itself eg: 'Game 17 Tron' - comment: "This was based on the film tron". "sigh"this book looked as if it could give so much more. Therefore I will be giving it to my husband with a "sorry don't get to excited" as he himself did a lot of retro remakes.

Excellent Learning Material
Please note that, as stated, the book is just info about the 50 retro games. This book is rated 5 stars because it provides a download of GML source for all the games. You just need to download the code and import in to Gamemaker. Even the rooms are included. (1) The source code is a fantastic learning experience. If you are trying to write a particular piece of code, the chances are good that at least 1 of the games has an example (2) The games are a good starting point. Pick one you like and add levels or functions to it. (3) There are a lot of assets to use in your own games( sprites, backgrounds, etc )
