I have two quite largish cats. Would it be sensitive enough for them to trigger it while out on the prowl?

This would depend on how high you have the monitor The birds can set it off if they fly passed the monitor but my cat never sets it off are it is too high up

Unfortunately no. It sounds an alarm on the base unit which has volume control and a variety of chimes. Works a dream and does have a loud volume setting if required.

Does this product work through glass?

Yes this product works through glass, mine is working through a double skinned brick wall but is only about 2oo metres from the sensor but i'm confident it would work at a further distance. i am very impressed with the performance.

Why did mine go up in smoke after 6 months use?
