Maxsa 44449-L Silver 100-LED Silver Solar-Powered Security Floodlight with Motion-Activation

I was a little concerned at first from reading reviews of other LED Security Lights from others stating the light was not very bright, but this 100-LED light works very well for my use at least. I mounted it directly above our car in the drive way about 15 feet up and it lights up the whole car and out behind and in front of it about 10 feet as well. Although the instructions state you only need a Phillips head screw driver to mount it, I would recommend keeping a drill handy. The solar panel mount does not detach making it a little difficult to mount it do to the limited adjustment of the mounting base. Also the motion sensor does not tilt down very much so picking up movement directly below it is somewhat spotty. It does move left and right, just down is limited to about a 45 degree angle or less and I would have liked a little bit more adjustment there. To replace the battery you will have to take the light itself down to get to the four screws in the back which I was not too happy about. I think a lock/switch on the light to unlock it from the mount would have been a better idea. Overall though I am happy with it so far.Update: 12/7/12 - I am still very happy with this light overall. The original battery gave out last month sooner than I expected (8 months) and I had to replace it, but then you never know how long a battery has set around on a shelf before you buy it. As I stated before replacing the battery is a bit of a pain as you have to take the unit completely down to get to the battery. Then take out four screws from the back. It was a little difficult putting the battery cover back on after replacing the battery. The screws are just long enough to catch the plastic screw holes and you have to really push down on the screws to get them to catch in the holes. The solar panel went through two hail storms over this past summer and not a bit of damage. One storm had quarter size hail and the other about dime size.Update: 07/23/13 - This light is still going strong. The only problem I see is the LED clear face front is starting to yellow a bit from the sun hitting it directly during the day, but all plastics do this I think in the sun after a while. Other than that it has held up through several more hail storms and below zero temperatures in the winter.

When the lights on it's VERY BRIGHT! If I had to judge on brightness alone I would give them 5 stars. I ordered two of these. One works the otherone does not. I'm guessing it's the battery. I thought these had a photo sensor but they don't so where I wanted to mount them will not work as you have to CLIMB A TREE to hit the on off switch. I think these might be practical as say shed lighting for someone who doesn't mind using the "on off" switch every time they need the light on. I have to find where to get batteries for the second one that does not work. also the charge does not last long if you leave it "on" all the time and hope for the motion activation to do it's job so you have to manually shut off the switch so it charges all day.

I live off the grid, so this light was a good choice for my situation. It's bright.The plastic casing could have been made of metal. It feels kinda cheap.The wind was blowing a shrub near the light, and wearing out the battery during the day at first.Got the sensitivity switch on it in the right spot, so now it has juice at night when i come home from work.Overall, pretty satisfied. Not sure if I would buy it again. We'll see how long it lasts.

I needed a shed light but didn't want to run romex wire to the shed. I only needed the light for very short periods of time so a solar light was really the answer. The light is inside the shed so the only time it goes on is when someone goes in there which is not very often. If I should need light in there for hours, then I can run an extension cord into the shed but I just can't see needing light in there for long hours. I mounted the solar panel on the roof of the house where I was able to take advantage of the angle of the sun.

The light itself impressed me. It is a lot brighter than I thought, however the framing for the light is cheap. If it were a little more heavy duty and had a 360 degree swivel for the light I would have given a 5 star. If you dont want to spend money on a elec. to install wires this is the way to go...this is a eazy install..

For a solar-powered LED, this light is acceptable. Not too bright, and easy to install. However, the light itself shines almost parallel to the ground, and can't be adjusted to light the ground below.

OK. It goes on at night for real, and it is bright. This is not like a halogen kind of bright, but it is more 'Green'. There was motion, get the gattling gun out, maybe some infra-red vision. Got your army surplus helmet on?.False alarm, it was my little tiny possum that has a hairdo like Eddy on the Munsters. God I love my cute little possum eating up the dry catfood on the front porch. Friend, Foe, or Possum? You will have little doubt, and install is easy. You might want to use some longer wood screws, maybe ones that are to more to your liking.

This light was very easy to install and set up. I put it on a tree far back in my back yard. It has a long cord connecting the solar panel, so you can have the light mounted in a darkened area and the panel where it can get some sunlight. It doesn’t seem to need a lot of light to power it up. The light head is adjustable and has 100 led’s. It’s quite bright. The light head is adjustable for sensitivity and duration. Great light for my needs.
