Citrussy pepper in a handy grinder? yes please!
I "discovered" this grapefruit-scented pepper on a friend's table in Montmorency, France (near Paris), and was thrilled to find it available through Amazon, especially since fancy spice purveyors in Chicago don't stock it. It's terrific on salads, fish, chicken, pork steamed or sauteed veggies, fruit, pretty much anything that can take a citrus-pepper punch.

Timut Pepper ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
McCormick Gourmet Global Selects Timut Pepper from Nepal, 0.63 oz is SO TASTY!I've always loved fresh ground pepper on most all savory foods. But this pepper is "the King!" It gives you that slight "tingle on the tongue" that many Sechwan peppers have. The description says, it has a "citrusy grapefruit aroma," which I don't REALLY notice. But you'll LOVE this pepper, and the convenient built-in grinder! I've loved it since I purchased it about a year ago, in 2022. I always keep the included "top" on it, which keeps it fresher, for longer. Try it, it's not expensive, you'll love it!

Delicious and unique
I strangely cannot tolerate black pepper. I use cayenne, habanero, jalapeño, chili…I love hot and spicy. I tried Timut pepper at a friend’s house and loved it immediately. It’s delicious and aromatic and makes your tongue tingle. When I ordered and received my bottle it was exactly the same. Fantastic!

Similar to Sichuan Peppercorns
Timut pepper is not related to black peppercorns. It is the Nepalese variety of the Szechuan or Sichuan peppercorn and is similar in taste. Both belong to the citrus family. The pepper has a citrusy flavor and rather than having a spicy bite like pepper, it can leave behind a tingling sensation in the mouth! I've learned that this pepper goes well with seafood and when added to melted butter is really good when brushed on corn on the cob or added to mashed potatoes. I read that it is also good on fruit, chocolate and desserts. I haven't tried it on any of those.I like this pepper a lot and have mostly used it with the melted butter and grinding a bit of it into marinades for chicken and seafood. The only thing I don't care for is the grinder on the bottle. It only does a rough coarse grind, more like cracked pepper. I like a finer grind so I put the pepper in a pepper grinder. I hope in the future McCormick will add a top similar to those on the Grinder line of spices that can be adjusted.

Pepper, elevated!
I am not a pepper fan. Despite the fancy names for black pepper and different origins, I don't find it's really differentiated from the ground stuff you find in restaurants, even when fresh ground. I just feel it's all standard and has a "pepper" flavor, which I find I only want small amounts of in dishes. And then there's THIS pepper! I was actually amazed. The aroma in the jar, and especially the aroma when on food is a complete step up. I actually LIKE having MORE pepper on dishes with this product. That's a huge compliment, coming from me! The citrus note is really superb and while I would think pepper has no place in desserts, this one does.Seriously - the citrus notes dominate the aroma, but doesn't surface as a strong citrus flavor - the pepper flavor is loud, yet very clear. They describe it as a "tingle" finish, and I would agree. As a matter of fact, the product lives up to its vivid description. I'm not a gourmet, but where has this been hiding all this time? It's definitely a unique pepper product that I am totally impressed with. It's a permanent part of our cooking landscape now, I absolutely love it. Give it a try - I am sure you will like it!

beware, not your average pepper
we love to cook, and in the past few years i started ordering Rachel Ray's mixed spices that comes in jars like this.My husband likes to experiment on the grill, which we do all the summer, spring and fall, sometimes in the snow !i just love to make anyhting normal taste different so everyone enjoys it. You can't go wrong with this brand, they are the king and it's the only spices and vanilla i'll get. This has a pepper taste but like a fruit note, somewhere between an orange and grapefruit with a hint of floral. I tried it on tilapia and it was delicious. Eggs, not so much...my hubby grilled chicken and he put it on a few pieces and it was delicious. That's as far as I got and i wanted to try a few foods before i reviewed it. i think we will be using this on fish and chicken. soon i'll try pasta. this is great, nice pepper but if you're looking for straight pepper, order it. if you want a little different taste and different layers to your papper, try this. it's really good ! (but only if you like fruits/florals)

Everyone in our household likes it
Every now and then I eat out and have a dinner with some kind of meat fillet and there is this delicious citrus aroma. I figured it was some kind of lemon in the sauce but when I tried to add lemon at home it never smelled half as good. Even when I used freshly squeezed lemon. So imagine my surprise when I tried this Timut pepper from Nepal. It has that smell I had been trying to replicate. Just grinding pepper onto something bland like Quinoa and your greeted with a fantastic citrus odor. Even my pugs crowd around and I can hear their little noses sniffing while I grind away. This pepper is a dark brown and grinds very light airy flakes reminiscent of ash. Don’t worry; it tastes nothing like ash. The flavor is not as strong as the aroma, but smell is a big part of taste and I’m delighted to have finally found a way to get that wonderful scent into my cooking. Everyone in our household really likes it.
