Pure Style in the Garden: Creating An Outdoor Haven

This is an outstanding book with so many tips and recommendations; it is laden with great ideas for outdoor gardening. There are beautiful photos as well as paintings done by this very talented author! Jane Cumberbatch is a fabulous writer who brings her garden alive; she encourages us all to enjoy the nature around us, and find our own little piece of calm and quiet outdoors. I highly recommend this book!!

I’ve had Jane’s “Pure Style Outdoors” for 20+ years and it’s still one of my favorites. This book has some nice points - the garden diary is enjoyable if you’re a gardener - but it’s more a garden journal than full-on garden book. As other reviewers have mentioned, several of the photos are poor quality. Perhaps most frustrating, quite a few of them are so small you can really see much in them. I’m appreciate white space in layout, but several of these pages would benefit from larger photos and less blank page.

This book was not up to my expectations of 'style in a garden'. I enjoyed the story of the writer, and it resonates in many ways, but my expectation was more about the botanical side of gardening, and admittedly on a larger scale. Evan Mac Donald

I hate giving a book less than 4 or 5 stars, because a lot of the time it's very much personal preference. However, I buy many book in the garden lifestyle genre and I was very underwhelmed. It's a little like if Instag... was a book publisher. As a personal journal it's a lovely effort if that's what interests you.

Bought this book for a man but on looking through it felt too feminine so kept it for myself. enjoyable book to have on coffee table
