Fundamentals of Differential Equations presents the basic theory of differential equations and offers a variety of modern applications in science and engineering. Available in two versions, these flexible texts offer the instructor many choices in syllabus design, course emphasis (theory, methodology, applications, and numerical methods), and in using commercially available computer software. Fundamentals of Differential Equations, Eighth Edition is suitable for a one-semester sophomore- or junior-level course. Fundamentals of Differential Equations with Boundary Value Problems, Sixth Edition , contains enough material for a two-semester course that covers and builds on boundary value problems. The Boundary Value Problems version consists of the main text plus three additional chapters (Eigenvalue Problems and Sturm-Liouville Equations; Stability of Autonomous Systems; and Existence and Uniqueness Theory). Review: The best textbook - For those who have to take Differential Equations in a high reputation college where mathematical courses are very rigorous, this is the perfect textbook to study with. I have seen no other textbook where concepts and solved exercices are well explained. Its price is really worth it. I would buy it again if I could. Thanks to this book, I could pass my Differential Equations course and sometimes I like to read it again, even though I already pass this course many many years ago. Review: Review of Fundamentals of Differential Equations 8th Edition textbook - The item arrived as described. It was brand new, no wear-and-tear and no highlighting or marks. It arrived in an desertcart box and was not wrapped which may be a small concern for those who are picky about their books. Otherwise, the item was in good shape and the service was prompt.

Good for class, not much else.
The book is a decent, well-written book for class, but for learning on one's own time, I wouldn't recommend it. It's really small and compact, which is great, but not the best for learning mathematics - it tries to keep things at as low of a level as possible for the reader, which actually put me off slightly.

Good examples.
Good examples are there, just not many of them. If you're taking an online class with this book, I would recommend the solutions manual. If it is in-class with a professor, this book will most likely suffice. Overall, you will learn what you need to with this text.

Very poor book. It doesn't help someone who hasn't taken ...
Very poor book. It doesn't help someone who hasn't taken a math course for a while get into WHY we need differential equations. The book requires strong knowledge of calculus and if you're like me who was unable to take DE for 2 years due to class schedule conflicts of more important classes in my major this book will be like swimming in the ocean. No clear examples, there are lots of formulas and questions for each section again with no real reason WHY we should care about DE. I barely even use Calculus 1 ONE at my intern job yet we have to take DE just to graduate? Terrible. Terrible required book for a terrible course.

Book in bad shape
This was the correct book but it was in terrible shape. The spine of the book had been taped together which made me feel like I was going to break the book everytime I opened it. Pages were also written on.
