SABRE Frontiersman Bear Bell: Your Trail Companion for Wilderness Safety
The SABRE Frontiersman Bear Bell has earned its place as an essential accessory for outdoor enthusiasts venturing into bear country. As someone who frequently explores remote wilderness areas, I understand the importance of taking precautions to mitigate wildlife encounters, and this bear bell provides a simple yet effective solution. One of the standout features of the Frontiersman Bear Bell is its audible alert system. The bell emits a steady jingle as you hike, serving as an early warning signal to bears and other wildlife of your presence. This added awareness can help prevent surprise encounters, reducing the risk of potentially dangerous situations for both humans and animals. The magnetic silencer feature is a clever addition, allowing users to silence the bell when not needed, such as during breaks or when in camp. This versatility ensures that the bell's sound can be controlled based on the situation, adding convenience without compromising safety. Furthermore, the durable hook and loop strap attachment provide a secure and hassle-free way to affix the bell to backpacks, clothing, or gear. Its robust construction withstands the demands of outdoor adventures, offering peace of mind that it will stay in place even in rugged terrain. While the Frontiersman Bear Bell is a valuable tool for wilderness safety, it's worth noting that its effectiveness may vary depending on environmental factors and individual bear behavior. While it serves as a deterrent, it's not a foolproof solution and should be used in conjunction with other bear safety measures, such as proper food storage and bear spray. In summary, the SABRE Frontiersman Bear Bell is a reliable and practical addition to any outdoor enthusiast's gear arsenal. Its audible alert system, magnetic silencer, and durable design make it a trusted companion for navigating bear country with confidence.

Well designed and reliable
My girlfriend and I just returned from a trip to Alaska where we used these bear bells. I purchased the 4-pack in different colors. These bells work very well. They are loud and can be easily strapped onto your coat, belt loop, pack, or just about anywhere else you can think of. It might take some experimenting to figure out where your natural body movements cause the loudest jingle (for me, it was hanging one on the bottom of my coat). My favorite feature on these is the little magnetic strap that can be easily used to silence the bells. The strap has a small magnet knitted into it, you just have to align the magnet directly with the metal ball in the bell and it sticks to it, preventing all sound. I liked silencing my bells when we were around other people on the trail, and letting them ring when we were more isolated. My only complaint is that on one of the bells, the knitting for the magnet unraveled so if I had kept using it I might have lost the magnet. This wasn't a big deal for me because I noticed before the magnet fell off and we had the extra bells available. I was able to easily knit it back shut when we got home. I would recommend buying one or two extra bells though for this reason. Overall I would highly recommend these!

THE BEAR RAN AWAY
We did a 10 mile rigorous hike this weekend, and I attached this little bear bell to my backpack. My dad taunted me in good sport at the start of the hike: "Chances are slim! I've hiked out here my entire life, I've never seen a bear!" I myself have been hiking 30+ years or so in northern Maine woods. Never, ever, have I or my family seen a bear and we have been OUT THERE deep in the woods, sometimes for days at a time, and some of it on the Appalachian trail. Low and behold, the first time I ever bring bear bells with me (figures) we find ourselves about 70 yards from a massive black bear. The bear seemed to have been laying down, possibly sleeping. We clearly startled him with the bell and he BOLTED in the opposite direction. It's pretty terrifying how fast that animal can move. Man, when you are out in the wilderness and see a bear, you are glad to have ANYTHING that makes you feel even a little more protected. I was so glad to have invested the $6 for this bell and some small portable bear spray I also had in my backpack. I'll never hike again without them. You better believe I clutched that bear spray the entire 2 miles left of the hike and kept that bell ringing! Pros: Bell is lightweight Comes in several colors Decently loud ring, but not enough to drive you totally insane Cons: This bell technically has a way to magnetize a bottom piece in place if you want to temporarily silence it while hiking. On the upper portion of the mountain incline near tree-line, I wanted to silence the bell. However, on steeper incline or more sudden movement, the magnet constantly let go and then it would ring again, over and over.

Perfect for bike rides
I hate ringing my bell and scaring the living 💩 out of walkers. But this bell was subtle, yet still loud enough for walkers to hear. It won’t jingle while you ride so you’ll have to loosely wrap it around the handlebar, then give it a shake for it to ring.

A must-have for bear season (or ANY SEASON)!
This bell has been perfect for my favorite hiking partner (my dog)! During bear season in the Green Mountains, we use the bell anytime we go on a hike. We have seen multiple bears including cubs so we also carry air horns and bear spray, but this bell gives us some peace of mind, letting our dog wander a little ways off the beaten trails. Now I use this bell year round! In off-seasons, I do put the silencer on partially to dull the sound a little since some of our trails are nearby people’s homes. My dog likes to lag behind on hikes to sniff so it can be hard to keep track of him without looking over your shoulder ever 20 seconds. I can tell by the jingling if he’s behind me or walking farther back. It also lets me know when I should stop to let him catch up when it goes quiet and he’s stopped to take a long sniff! LOVE the magnetic silencer and sturdy construction of the bell and it’s strap. It sounds like a jolly sleigh bell so it isn’t too bad to listen to either!

Good buy, especially for warning bikers.
Great to put on the everyone and the dog. Its nice to warn other hikers and bikers, but also we can silence it with the damper.

Great Bell
We trail ride horses and there is always an adventure with wildlife, but this bell gives us peace of mind in those moments we are not chatting or laughing enough for animals to hear us coming up the trail. It has taken me a long time to get a bear bell because I was afraid the noise would become annoying, but honestly you hardly know its there and it is almost like a caravan of gypsies walking through the wilderness and the sound is not offensive at all to us. Two of us have this bell, and I never hear the other rider's, only mine- and I have other brass bells attached along with it and there's a sweet musical chime to them all. So far it has worked- there have been no surprised bears, no spooked boars and the deer are rarely hidden as they perk up and listen to who's coming with these bells on. It's totally worth the price and it is a very nicely made little gadget.

Silencer mostly works
I haven't seen any bears on my NYC sidewalks for quite a while so I guess this bear bell is doing it's job. I bought it to attach to the collapsible, wheeled milk crate I use to transport my big telescope. People don't look where they are going and cut in right behind me and seem to think ir is my problem when they trip over my plainly visible luggage. The bell makes enough noise as the telescope bumps over sidewalk expansion joints that people turn around to see what the noise is and I don't get run over as often. The bell silencer is farely effective at muting the bell on the rare occasions when I don't want it making noise but the magnet could be a bit stronger. ⭐⭐⭐ Is my base rating for a product that is fully functional and delivers on its promises

Great dog bell
I bought this bell for my dog who likes to hike with me and my friends but she’s big so they need to hear her coming and move aside so she doesn't take them out! Works perfectly and exactly what I wanted. Very easy to quickly attach and detach sturdy strap with Velcro

Product as described
I did a lot of research even for the low cost of this bell, as we encountered a black bear on our walk in the woods a little while ago/ Our dogs are always on leases because of this The volume of the bells is loud enough to be heard but not be invasive or annoying, it has a constant sound as the dogs walk (we have it attached to their harness) reminds you at first of Christmas sounds. We have a medium size and small dog, it is fine for our medium size dog on its harness but for our small dog it is too big for its comfort level, so when we walk the smaller dog alone we just carry the bell ourselves. The magnetic silencer is just fine, it doesn't make it truly silent but it muffles the sound well. Highly recommend for the price, haven't come across and more bears yet hopefully that means the bell is working. Although I do need to say we do carry pepper spray and a air horn as back up.

Rings like a bell
These are nice bells, good for walking the trials and when we don’t use them for that we hang them in our house to help us tell if there is a earthquake. Might be a funny idea but if you’re not sure there was a earthquake but you hear the Bell ringing then you know for sure :) not sure if it will work for that but just trying to find another use. There is a magnet strap that goes on the bell if you don’t want it to ring, that’s a nice feature that other bear bells don’t have. Good quality.

will be part of a gift...
I can't tell you whether or not it works as i'm giving it as part of a gift for someone who lives out in the bush with the bears & other wild animals... When she goes on the trails alone all she carries is a big stick & that worries me. I've been told & i've read that if you make loud noises you're letting the animals know that you are coming & they are not alone. So normally&hopefully armed with this bell (also bear spray) they take off before they even see you coming. They will hear you coming with this bell & take off before they even make an appearance. If you happen upon a bear & you actually see each other you scare it/it scares you & it will attack for that reason... I'm sure it's not 100% but it's better than not being prepared at all/heck it may work on deterring some people too;-) good luck to all in this crazy world we live in.

Love the magnetic silencer function.
This is not the cheapest bear bell on the market but I really like this one from SABRE. You can get bear bells starting from $2-3 from Walmart and other utility stores, yes they are cheap and they serve the purpose, but this bear bell comes with a magnetic silencer which I didn’t know I needed. I hang this to my dogs leash so it jingles whenever we go on a walk, but in areas that we know there is low risk of bears, we use the silencer because the bell can be very annoying on long hiking trips. The silencer function is the best in my opinion, it’s one of those things that I immediately fell in love with after trying it. This bell is going to last a very long time, and I’ll gladly pay more for the silencer function.
