I'm really upset that Amazon doesn't carry this item anymore, these were the best emery boards that I ever purchased and I hope that maybe Amazon will stock them again, I'll pay anything!

I’m a guy. I’m in my mid 30’s and I’ve been thinking of how to maintain myself to stave off looking my age. My finger nails had started getting ridges and looking dull. I took a chance on this after one of those mall kiosk people stopped me and did that magic trick on my fingernail. Figured I could find something cheaper and this did exactly what they did- for a fraction of the price! I bought Bee Naturals Cuticle and Nail Oil on here too and I haven’t regretted either purchase. Watched some How To videos online and now my hands look ten years younger!The most I’ve ever done for my nails in the past was cut them with clippers. This is a must have grooming product for guys my age who still want to look good, maintain their youthful look, and still look masculine and professional. It is so easy. I purchased this kit for basic nail maintenance and liked it so much, I have re-ordered several times. Great quality and value. Would not use anything else.

I'm a big fan of these so far. I have fairly thin, fragile nails that tend to break and chip. When I get a chip, I tend to file right away and only in one direction. These are nice because a few quick, gentle strokes with the 100 side in one direction will smooth out the chip and shape the nail without me feeling like I have to saw back and forth to see a difference. I also like to keep my nails short and they grow pretty fast. The 180 side is great for taking some length off my nails quickly again without sawing back and forth. I also like the block for shaping my nails. I don't generally use it to smooth out the surface of my nails. All sides seem a little coarser than what I'm used to and I haven't figured out a good way to do that yet.

This set is nicer than I expected. It came packed in a sturdy box. Inside, the nail files and smoothing/buffer pads are contained in a plastic tray, not terribly sturdy plastic, but certainly good enough to keep all the pieces organized and looking nice on the counter instead of thrown haphazardly into a drawer. The buffing pads, which weren't that important to me when I placed my order (I just wanted some good nail file/emery boards), turned out to be super nice, with sides marked clearly "Smooth," "Buff," "Shine," "Even out." I can actually use this, as my nails have numerous ridges, which mar the look of polish but can't be safely smoothed out using an emery board. So, a nice product, fairly priced, attractively packaged, and nicer than I expected. It's a small item, I suppose, but I couldn't ask for more.

So these are fantastic when used on the fake nail tips. Obviously, the grit is really rough and sands down the tips pretty quickly if you use a light touch.I’d have really appreciated the inclusion/option of finer grit files with the set. You really have to be careful not to press too hard when you file or the emery board kind of gets caught on the nail.Too coarse for real nails IMHO, but good for turning fake stilettos into coffin-style it even French tips.

These nail files are just what I needed. I live in the country and its a pain to drive into the city to get stuff so I really appreciate getting these without the drive. The buffers are also good quality. Nice presentation too. I would buy these again.

Although it is suggested to use a 240 grit file for natural nails, being a guy with brittle nails, the 180 grit still works fine as long as I take it slow and careful to use the emery board flat on the nail. It doesn't take that many passes to smooth the nail edge.As far as the buffer blocks are concerned, there is no way I would use them on my fingernails as they are far too coarse. As other reviewers commented, all sides except one are all the same coarseness. However, they work great for toenails, and if you keep up with it, you may be able to avoid having to use clippers, which is pretty awesome in my book.All in all, the emery boards work as advertised, no real surprise there, although you'd probably be better served using a finer grit for natural fingernails. Unfortunately, the buffer blocks are not what I expected, otherwise I'd rate this product higher.
