Perfect cherry pit picker
If you are a lover of fresh cherries for eating, baking and flavoring, then this is the tool for you. Introducing fruits to children couldn't be easier. Removing the pits makes it easier for chomping (as kids will do) and as some adults will do. Baking is a no brainer. Just add them to your favorite bread, cobbler and sauce recipes for the tang and sweetness it needs. The ease of using this pitter is so simple. Placing the cherries, with stem removed, in the designated holder couldn't be more straight forward. It easily punctures pits from main cherry into collection base. Make sure that ALL pits are accounted for. (Occasional pit may be left behind) Pitting a pound or more of cherries may take about 5 minutes once you get into a rhythm. I have found the the pits are loved by my house squirrels, so nothing goes to waste. Cleaning is a breeze. Either rinse and wash by hand OR place on top shelf of dishwasher and let it do the work for you. Love it!

Durable and efficient
I will start by saying there is not a way to de-pit cherries which doesn't create some mess. This, however, does the best job I could ask for making the task as quick and efficient as I think possible. I used it to de-pit over 20lbs of cherries last summer and found it to be durable, time-saving over the single pitting devices and designed well for functionality. I'm very happy with the ease of use, clean-up and storage. Fortunately not cumbersome to store since cherries are seasonal.

Good tool, but watch for stubborn pits.
I got really tired of tearing up my nails pitting a couple pounds of cherries a week, so I bought this pitter. It works well and causes minimal mess. I will warn that it does occasionally not expell the pit from the cherry. Watch for that if you use your cherries whole. I like slicing mine in half anyway. With that in mind, this product made pitting cherries very easy and quick, just have a sturdy bowl on hand. It was also relatively easy to clean. I hope to use this product for years to come.

All cherries, no pits
I am really liking this multiple cherry pitter so far. I pitted a couple dozen cherries and it went well. I like that it can rest on top of bowl. I thought it might be unsteady but it sat securely on top of my bowl. It was easy to operate, my old pitter required a lot more forceful whacking that would make my hand sore. THis one is a snug push on a wide area. Operation was easy and went quickly. After cherries are pitted, top lifts up and cherries are pushed off pitter into bowl. A lot tidier than my old pitter. I am pleased. Once again, OXO doesn’t disappoint.

This one works - Almost 100% effective at doing its job.
Don’t be scared away by the fact that it’s plastic - it works better than it’s metal competition Unlike the other multi-pitters I’ve owned, this one has a huge success rate - almost every single time, all 6 cherries are pitted in one go. I was extremely skeptical about this one - the prongs that smash through each cherry are made of plastic, and appear large making me think I was going to end up with smashed pits, mangled fruit and painful shards of broken plastic cherry piitter littering my countertop. The plastic is hard and sturdy. Time will tell if durable is also a word I could use. Maybe it’s the plastic that doesn’t give as it smashes through the fruit, but several months after getting it, the plastic hasn’t broken (yet) and the prongs haven’t been bent by the repetitive smashing of the machine against and through the fruit which may be what happens with the other metal ones - I think they bend over time, almost imperceptibly, rendering them frustrating . I’ve owned 3 previous metal-pronged ones and they were each fiddly - if all of the cherries weren’t pointing exactly in the same direction, if my hand pushed the plunger in a slightly off direction, maybe 1 or 2 pits would be removed leaving me to poke through all 6 to find the pits that hadn’t been removed. With this one, I have never had less than 5 (out of 6) successfully removed pits . Most of the time, it has performed perfectly For me, this was a small additional investment compared to the others I’ve owned which are cheaper. The time saving and frustration removal is well worth it to me. It is still a time consuming process, pitting cherries, but it takes less time now than before and it is much less frustrating to use.

Kids loved helping with this!
We had 8 lbs of cherries to pit, and my kids couldn’t wait to jump in and help! I barely had a chance to show them how to use it, and they did all 8 lbs of cherries. Super easy to use, cleanup is a breeze. Some pits got stuck in the bottoms of the cherries, but they even figured out that if you bring up the red piece with the cherries and press in, those stubborn pits will fall out too. Great price, and I would recommend for anyone who wants to make things with cherries. It “locks” onto your bowl so you don’t have to worry about it sliding around. It is also compact and fits nicely on my very crowded pantry shelf. We had both Rainer (softer) and bing (harder) cherries, and this putter didn’t blink. It did all with ease and I didn’t worry once about my kids getting hurt. Very sturdy, excellent performance.

A highly efficient way to de-pit cherries
We were almost going to buy OXO's handheld one-at-a-time cherry pitter when we saw this. It was only half again as expensive as the single pitter, yet this one did six-at-a-time. After watching several product videos, this seemed like the way to go. It just arrived yesterday, and we had to try it last night. OMG! It works so well! Follow the instructions (and you might benefit from watching a two-minute video demonstrating how it works). You'll be impressed. I was out this afternoon and drove my the supermarket. Just had to see if they had any cherries left, and lo and behold, not only did they still have them, but they were half price! Bought nearly 5 pounds at that price. We're going to pit a good share of them and freeze them for future desserts and smoothies. If you operate the pitter as instructed, it should pit most cherries perfectly. My small sample last evening was 18 (3 rounds of 6). 16 of them pitted and dropped flawlessly. 2 remained stuck to the impaler, one with a dangling pit, the other without. It was trivial to pull off the dangling pit by hand, and ditto for dropping them into the bowl. Compared to doing this by hand, it's night and day. More like dark side of the moon and high noon! I would estimate this is 10x faster than doing them by hand, and probably at least 3x as fast as a handheld single pitter. We're very happy with this and would buy it again. It's admittedly a "single tasker" and won't get a lot of use, but we'll just clean it after each use, slip it back into the plastic bag, and store it back in its box so we'll know the next time it will be clean and undamaged, wherever we end up stashing it in the kitchen cabinets.

Best cherry pitter I've ever tried!
I had 40 pounds of cherries to process. I started pitting them, but it was slow, clumsy, and half the time the pit was still in the cherry. I gave up and threw away my old cherry pitters. By using an alternate method, I laboriously pitted 6 quarts of cherries, then quit and canned the remaining cherries with pits in. My muscles were sore, my back was aching from standing over the sink for more than an hour, pitting cherries, and my hand were stained red that didn't wash off for 2 days. After serious online searching I found the OXO Good Grips Quick Release Multi Cherry Pitter, and bought it. Although I was done processing cherries for this year, I determined to buy some more cherries to test it with. So I did. This cherry pitter is the best one I have ever tried! In addition to the manual pitters, I had tried one that sends cherries down a chute one at a time. It was a little faster than the manual ones, but no better at removing the pits. On this OXO Good Grips Quick Release Multi Cherry Pitter it doesn't matter what direction the cherries are facing, nor does size seem to matter. After removing the stems I put 6 cherries into the little cups and shove the top down. Crunch! (The sound of the tines going through the cherries and popping out the pits.) Usually 6 pits drop into the catcher, and 6 cherries are impaled on the pitter tines. Open the lid a little further and it tosses the cherries into your bowl below. Occasionally one will land back into the cups. Sometimes the pit will remain hanging on the cherry by a tag of cherry flesh. If you watch for those before tossing the cherries into the bowl, then there are NO pits left in the cherries! There is some flesh attached to the pits collected in the catcher, but no matter how you pit cherries, some of the flesh goes with the pit, so I don't call that a problem. On some cherries that bit of flesh is still hanging from the cherry, which is great, but it looks sort of like a pit, so has to be checked. Pitting cherries with this pitter was far leas messy than other methods I had tried. It still causes some juice, and I got some cherry juice on my hands -- but very little, and it washed off easily. I got more cherry juice stain on my hand from eating the pitted cherries than I did from pitting them. After the cherries are all pitted, clean-up is easy if you wash/rinse the pitter immediately. All the juice just rinses off easily. Whoever designed this pitter is a genius!

Works great and efficient!
Received it today and used it this evening. Was looking for a known brand, even though this is niche product i wanted it to work well and last. I’ve found OXO to make many good kitchen products over the years. Quality seems quite good and solid. Didn’t pay attention to the time but pitted about 6lbs of cherries tonight and went quite quickly, I would get on a roll and next thing the pit bin would be filled right up. May only use a few times a year but for ease and efficiency and quality, I really liked it and would highly recommend!

As expected, however, not as hoped
I think I had a slightly idealistic view of how much easier this would make pitting cherries. Was making a black forest ghetto and it slightly expedited the process but was still time-consuming.
