I am silverleafing a metal lantern. What kind of adhesive should I use? . I would prefer something that brushes on.

For this application, we would recommend the water based gilding size rather than the eglomise glass gilding adhesive. It is applied using a brush.

How do you avoid brush strokes when applying the sizing? My frame surface was smooth after gesso and bole steps but then the size added brush marks.

To apply the size more smoothly, you could use an airbrush. You would need to thin the size down so it can be sprayed by adding approximately 30% more water when mixing. Hope this helps!
