Can I engrave it?

It's not "fake." (That seems to be an obsession with one particular customer, but it's not "fake" at all.) It's .925 sterling silver, meaning 92.5% silver content, and 7.75% alloy metals, which usually is most or all copper in traditional sterling silver.   Alloys are metals added to the pure silver to make the combination stronger, and more easily workable by those using it to produce finished jewelry and other products, such as musical instruments, or parts of them.

There is a relatively new silver alloy metal on the market called Argentium Silver, which uses a metaloid called Germanium as a part of the alloy metals added to the silver. This combination has been proven to be stronger, more resilient, easier to work, *much less able to tarnish,* and shinier than standard sterling silver. It has been scientifically proven to be the "whitest white" of all the white metals, including white gold, Platinum, Palladium, and Rhodium. The description given of the additional benefits of this piece sound precisely like those of Argentium Silver.

Those who STILL have any problems with skin reactions to it have a perculiar body chemistry which reacts to the copper in the metal. It does NOT mean it's "fake" by any means. Any jeweler who knows his or her stuff when it comes to sterling silver will easily tell you the same. And any jeweler, or even any pawn shop owner or their jewelry "expert" will be able to verify the metal used in this piece, as they MUST be able to, since they only deal in genuine pieces on which to loan money, or sell back to the public.

As for having it engraved, any bench jeweler who does engraving - and does it with a laser - which many do now because of its inherent benefits - will be able to engrave the inside of any band that is 3mm wide *or larger.* There is a local jeweler near to me who does exactly this with no trouble whatsoever. However, in 3 and 4mm bands, the engraving will be rather small, because of the available space, so picking an appropriate font for the letters is very important. Lasers make this many times easier than doing it the old fashioned way, and they offer many more options for fonts and symbols. Avoiding fonts that use lots of swirls and curlicues will make it easier to read.

Conversely, using simple block or very un-swirly letters will be much easier to read. Having the engraving "colored," if available, will make it stand out more against the background. Check around, and find preferably an independent jeweler (not a "mall" or chain type store) who has a bench jeweler and/or a trained individual who does laser engraving on site.
