Wow, could this be the ultimate value in disposals 🤔
Update: Original review is below and unchanged. I added a sound level video. Approximately the first 10 seconds or so is just the normal hushed background in the kitchen at about 26 dB. That’s very quiet. at around 10 seconds or so, I turned on the full flow of the faucet headed straight down the center of the rubber splash guard which brings the level up to about 68 dB. You all know what a faucet sounds like 😉You can obviously hear it but it’s not loud by any means. That’s 67 - 68 dB. OK, then around 30 seconds I turned on the disposer. This brings the sound level up to about 72 dB. Obviously more sound but still not offensive in any way. Go out to about 40 or so seconds and I turned off the water, not the disposer. The sound level drops back to about 68 dB; about the same level as just the running water. That’s about as good as a comparison and reference point as you are going to get. The disposer by itself makes about the same level of sound / noise as the running faucet 👍 I also added some simple picts of the installed unit on my Silestone polymer sink. Nothing special here … no extra sound insulation on the disposer or sink bottom and basically just an overpriced plastic sink. Original review: Yea, title says it all. First, Frigidaire is a great name in appliances that takes second place to no one. Second, it has a stainless steel grinding plate with a lifetime rust-out warrantee and 6 year overall warranty. Third, the price point for a 1/2 HP, stainless steel, 6 year disposal unit is excellent. Installation is on par with any disposer unit; mounting the disposer is trivial. Most of the work is getting the retaining ring-clip onto the bottom of the sink clamp assembly. Buy a small tub of plumbers putty at a big box store for $1.50 and you are good to go. None of the disposers come with putty. It’s cheap; why not just put a 2 or 3 oz blob in the box … anyway. I had a 1/3 HP Whirlaway that was installed when the house was built 25 years ago. That is another sleeping giant for quality and value. Seriously, 25 years for a “value” disposer! Motor was still fine but the grinding plate rusted out and something broke off then threw it off balance. It was shaking the entire house. I would have just done a direct replacement with another Whirlaway but at 1/2 HP (as a slight upgrade) Whirlaway was a week+ for delivery. That would have been a 3 minute replacement using the existing mount on the sink. I did all the usual searching and reviews and obviously was leaning toward Insinkarator but I also wanted stainless steel this time so no entry level Badger was going to work. Stainless Insinkarators take you up into the $200 minimum range and are no longer compact so also would have required a complete redo of the plumbing to get one to fit. To me, for a disposer that sees minimal usage, that much money + the extra work to install it was a non-starter. The Frigidaire fit the same compact location without any modification to the drains / plumbing, has a stainless grinder, 6+ year warrantee, and runs well. It’s much quieter than the prior one but maybe that’s not a fair statement because I really don’t remember what the other one sounded like 2 decades ago. No, it’s not silent, but you could easily have a conversation while using it without raising your voice. It only runs a few times a week for less than 10 seconds per run so the sound level was not a concern but is a welcomed feature. Yes, there is a “clack” at startup from the anti-jam cams engaging, but I can snap my fingers more loudly. It’s barely noticeable if you turn on the water before the disposer. In that case it’s just a soft “click”. I’ve never used my disposal as a substitute for a garbage can and I don’t plan to start doing so now. I find disposals to be a convenient way to deal with small scraps that would otherwise clog a drain. If you agree, a 1/3 or 1/2 HP unit is a great kitchen helper. If you are in the camp that likes to feed 5 pounds of garbage at a clip down your drain, you probably want a larger machine or maybe a wood chipper 😉

So far so good, just be aware
This Frigidaire garbage disposal checked all the boxes: Competitive price, powerful, and well reviewed by homeowners and Consumer Reports. The installation was straightforward and easy, altogether it took me about 45 minutes. My only real criticism is that the silver guard does not fit cast iron sinks due to the larger width of the sink flange. Frigidaire did not have anything in manual or online listings about this, I had to ask my friend who’s a plumber and he let me know why it doesn’t fit all the way around. The disposal works really well, it has no issue with food scraps or old leftovers. I don’t like the splash guard included due to the holes on it, so I just purchased a different one from another brand that didn’t look like it would get as dirty. This unit is surprisingly quiet. It’s slightly more quiet than the 3/4 horsepower Insinkerator 3 disposal I previously had that randomly stopped working after about 8 years.

I'm Very Happy with This Frigidaire Disposal and I Recommend It.
My son purchased one of these Frigidaire 1.25 HP Corded Garbage Disposal for Kitchen Sinks. I was able to observe it in action at his home before I bought one. This unit is MUCH quieter than any previous disposer in my memory. It has been installed for about 3 weeks so far and it has never failed or jammed on food waste. On some previous disposers food waste would jam the blades and the unit would stop working until the jammed item was cleared. Some previous comments have noted the slightly slower than normal water draining. The water DOES drain. The reason is the rubber shield that fits in the drain is thicker than most. The advantage is eliminating water being squirted out of the drain on unsuspecting folks next to the sink. It comes with a series of magnets that install around the drain ring on the under side of sink drain. The purpose of these magnets is to catch any silverware that is accidentally shoved down the drain. The magnets are powerful enough to keep the silverware out of the spinning blades. This has happened to me before on previous disposals. The noise is hellacious. It typically does not harm the disposal. But there is potential to scratch the silverware as it bounces around the drain. This disposal is more powerful than most others and has a strong 12 year warranty. This is a high end disposal. I think it earns it high status.

Super quiet and works, but the magnet ring thing seems ineffective
This thing got consumer reports top rating last time they tested garbage disposals, so after deciding to finally install a garbage disposal I figured we’d give this a try rather than buying one of the more traditional ISE ones for double the price. So far it seems to work great and it’s very quiet. It’s almost silent when running “empty” (water only) and the only time you get noise is when it has stuff to grind. Even the grinding noises are muffled somewhat. The only gripe I have is the the effectiveness of their magnetic silverware guard ring thing seems greatly exaggerated. I’m unsure if its because they used magnets that are too weak, or if our silverware just lacks iron content, or both, but attempting some tests it really doesn’t seem like the magnets do much. I’d say the rubber skirt thing does more to prevent spoon-grinding accidents than the magnets. - anything dropped directly in the center of the drain is going in. Magnets do nothing, rubber does nothing because there an open hole there. - something sliding along the bottom of the sink is more likely to get diverted away from the drain hole, but not if it’s made of non-ferrous alloy that isn’t attracted to magnets. This includes stuff like aluminum as well as stainless steel (which contains ether much less iron compared to carbon steel or sometimes no iron). - as previously mentioned, I think the thick heavy rubber skirt does more than anything else to prevent stuff from accidentally going down than any magnets do. But since that’s so heavy, the magnets only need to do a little diversion to keep something from hitting the small open center hole. Unfortunately they can’t even do that to a spoon or fork containing no iron. So I’d probably give this 5 stars if it weren’t for the exaggerated claims about the silverware guard. The heavy rubber and magnets do help some but you’re still going to have to maintain the same level of vigilance to prevent a spoon-grinding incident. Do not depend on this feature at all or some spoons and forks are getting rekt.

3/4 HP quieter than older garbage disposal, magnetic ring guard, reset button
My unit was installed today, and the plumber said it is a nice garbage disposal. I am pleased with it so far for several reasons: 1. It is quieter than my 10 year old 1/3 power unit that I replaced. 2. A 10 year manufacturer warranty 3. Bioshield provides odor control 4. Silver Guard is a powerful magnetic ring designed to catch silverware or metal objects before they can fall into the grinder 5. Stainless Steel swivel impellers and cutting components, which works with a balanced turntable 6. Instant High Speed torque and High RPM permanent magnetic motor 7. A 3 foot attached power cord 8. A Easy to clean removable splash guard 9. A Stainless steel sink stopper 10. Large size for my household 3/4 HP 11. Easy install 3-bolt mount 12. A reset button The plumber said it was an easy install, but the unit came with its own sink drain ring, not the drain line, so my old sink drain ring had to be replaced with the new one. The plumber was able to integrate the garbage disposal with my existing plumbing lines, and only added one adapter to match the dishwasher drain hose. The plumber did an excellent, neat and tidy job! See the photos and know that I blocked out some places where numbers were showing in the photos.

Great performance a quiet enough.
This was a great purchase. It arrived quickly and installed in no time. It has a powerful motor and is pretty quiet. Personally from experience I want the disposal to make some noise so I and others know when it is working. I knew someone who had a disposal that was so quiet you could not hear it. This led to issues with folks not turning off the machine and tripping the breaker. This is not one of those things “that should be seen and not heard.” The disposal lets you know it is working without making your ears ring.

Seriously, don’t buy any other, this is the one!
I don’t do reviews, but this thing warrants it. I had a badger that had died after only 5 years, and only had a 3 year warranty. So this Frigidaire seemed a great balance of power and affordability. On top of that, it has a 12 year warranty. It has double the power of the same priced badger, is much quieter than the badger, and has 4x the warranty. Absolutely fantastic purchase

Tritura los desperdicios orgánicos fácilmente.
Llevo 15 días usándolo. No hace ruido excesivo.
