Great net for the money. Just buy one with a longer handle than you think you will need!
The handle was the best out off the three different nets I tried. It was a larger diameter and definitely a lot heavier duty. The solid metal ring for the net was much better than what was used in an the Frabil nets (a D-frame hollow hoop with dented and bent easily). This net is tough and easier to swing through the water compared to the nets with "cloth" type net bags. The only negative was the basket was too deep. If it was about 1/2 to 2/3 the current depth, it would even be a better net. If you order one, I would definitely recommend getting one with the 8' handle and not the 6' handle.

planning to use this for smelt
the handle on this could be better. it has a clumsy feel to it. where the net is attached to the handle, there's only two metal bars that connect it. i wouldn't try lifting a full net of smelt with this net until you do some customizing of your own to it.

For the money, it is great. I preface that because the handle metal is thin and the union between it and the basket is clearly a weak link. With that in mind, if you use it carefully it will work great!

not a bad net. Handle is a little thin
not a bad net. Handle is a little thin. Will work with the thought of not being rough with it. I'm filling the handles with foam insulation and leaving them locked in the extend position.
