Quite a nice product to clean furniture

The product is perfect for water resistance but.. After spraying my sofa with it, I read about the $850 million settlement in the US for a lawsuit against 3M for Scotchgard and other products contains PFCs. It got me worried for a day and I went through all the news about it. Apparently, 3M had dumped chemicals at sites near Minneapolis for more than 40 years, allowing them to get into wildlife and drinking water. So, the locals sued claiming that the PFCs had entered the food-chain causing cancer and premature births. 3M kept denying it in response to the locals claims. There was an out of court settlement. The company now claims that there are no PFCs in their products like this one. I was relieved to read that. I bought sofas online and wanted to make them water resistant with Scotchgard. After spraying I was pleasantly surprised to see the effect. It works pretty well in making the fabric water resistant. Because of all the negative news, I'm not sure if I'll use it again.

Product reviews are fake. I bought this product with hope that it will make my sofas waterproof. But not just it is completely useless, it is harmful. It contains chemicals which if used frequently can cause cancer. When you spray this on fabric first time, you will smell extreme poisonous suffocating odor which lasts upto 1 hour!! And then after a few hours when you try to sprinkle some water on the fabric, it completely absorbs it!! No waterproofing as claimed! Hating such businesses who make money at the cost of human health and trust!! Amazon should ban such products and companies from selling such hazardous products openly!!

This product changed the colour of the fabric to dull brown, making it look soiled! Moreover the price is high and doesn't price protect against dirt.

I sprayed some of this on my new pair of Hoka shoes since they are very light colored. Following the directions, I masked off the non-breathing material, It is especially to avoid spraying the bottom of the shoe, because once you spray even one coat on something that isn't porous, this will become so slick. It would actually be a slip hazard if you have any of this on the bottom of your shoes. After I sprayed one coat I let it dry for a couple days before I sprayed the second coat. In my mind, two thin layers are always better than one heavy coat. Once my scotchgard got good and dry, I removed the tape and then the following day it was raining outside. I was quite impressed how well this repelled the water. I've been wearing these shoes outside often and they look as new as I got them still. I have a spray booth so I did not notice the odor. I consider this to have good effectiveness. It's too early to say on the durability on how long this will last. I will update the review accordingly. I was careful not to spray so I do not know about the residue. I consider this to be a good value since it will keep my shoes clean and I'm not sure how many shoes I will be able to do with one can.

Just covered my 3 seater chaise lounge, seems to work well! Would probably buy two next time for extra coverage. Strong smell initially but wears off quickly.
