Common Sense Economics: What Everyone Should Know About Wealth and Prosperity

A must read for understanding capitalism.
I bought this book because the title caught my eye. Having a degree in Economics, but being out of school for many many years I thought it would just be a quick review. What I discovered during the read was that, yes, it was a high level review of economics and so much more. The authors went into some real good easy to understand examples and I would encourage every recent High School graduate and/or college student to read this. (For that matter every American) It goes into what this county is based on and how great the free market can be if government stays out of the way. Finally the last section has some very fundamental information regarding personal finance, that if adhered to, starting at an early age, can be life changing.

Life Changing, at least for me
Purchased this book for a class. It was informative, easy going, and thoughtful. The authors made economics easy for a novice to understand. Once I got to the last section of the book, Personal Economics, I was blown away. My parents never taught me about finances, and I finally gained an interest from this book. It has literally changed my life, the passions for what I want out of life, and given me a road map to start making solid financial decisions. I will never forget my experience reading this book, and the way it changed my trajectory in life.

Basic Exonomics
Great introduction to basic common sense economics. Quote from the book. “One of the most important ways to teach young people responsibility is by helping them understand that money is earned; it is not manna from heaven”

Fundamental economic principles made easy!
This is a very good booking for those trying to understand the fundamental principles of a market economy. The book does have a supply side/Chicago School slant, which isn't necessarily my cup of tea. However, if I were to set my personal views aside and evaluate this book objectively and unbiasedly, I can honestly say that this book is informative, well written, and fairly easy to read. For that reason I gave this book 5 stars. Just keep in mind that there are other economic perspectives and theories out there concerning a marker economy, so don't be afraid to read both side of the issue.

Engagin and easy to understand
This is my text book for an online course taught by one of the authors of the book. I have not yet completed the book. However, I am enjoying it. It does present economics using common sense. I think it's engaging and easy to understand. If I were to return to the high school classroom as a teacher, I would want to use this book as the text. I also think the book is worth reading for anyone who wants to understand economics better.

I highly recommend this book if you are someone
This book helped me pass my economics class. This book is descriptive and it makes sense. There are some books out there that are too descriptive and you just don't understand what the author is trying to say, but James D. Gwartney uses the right kind of examples and he does not over whelm you with his information. I highly recommend this book if you are someone, like me, who is not an economics major but you need/want to understand economics. Easy to understand and read.

Good book
Very good explanation when it comes to the notions of economics. Some of the language and terminology used in later topics of the book is however, a bit alienating and unrelatable for anyone who lives outside the U.S.
