Philips Avent Natural Response Nipples, Extra Slow Flow (Flow 1), 4-Pack, SCY961/04

The new version does not allow milk to flow as previously. Even with moving to a #2 nipple (compared to #1 of the old version), our baby sat there frustrated for half an hour, not able to get milk out. Editing a year+ later to say that we ended up LOVING this version. Once baby got the hang of it, the nipple did an excellent job helping baby self-pace (as naturally would happen). He just needed to get use to the effort involved and we needed to move up a level.

Honestly this brand is my go to for bottles, I know different babies like different things. But mine has done the best with these, I also love how the flows are for different ranges. They are easier to clean with the brush and I’ve noticed that the quality is great. My only complaint is that the formula sometimes gets stuck at the top of I don’t pre shake it a little

I like these but my daughter run through these so fast. The quality is good but I always have to replace them.

I used these 2 years ago with my first child and loved them. He did well with size 2s, we had 3 of those left with our new baby so we’ve been using those. I had to buy more for my newborn and got this new version. She is 7 weeks old and cannot get anything out of the 2s. So I went ahead and upgraded to size 4. She is now 7 weeks old and still cannot get much out of the size 4s that are advertised for 3 month+. She will eat for 30 minutes and only eat half an ounce. It’s ridiculous, in fact I have recently swapped to Playtex Baby Nurser bottles with size 1 nipples, and she can eat 4 ounces in 20 minutes. I’m going to try size 5 nipples for the Avents as a last attempt to make these bottles work. But a size 5 for a 7 week old is ridiculous, even if they do work better. I get they tried to make them non-Spill but it has impacted the effectiveness greatly!! I hope they see this review and swap back to the other nipples or fix this problem, I will not be recommended these to anyone anymore until it’s fixed! At the very least do not waste your money on any nipple smaller than a size 5, even for your 1 month old! Edit: I got in the new size 5s in. They are much better, my 2 month old can actually get milk out of these at this point. Don’t waste your money on any other size regardless of their age. I would try the 4s for a younger baby, but once they are a month, I’d do the 5s.

Great if they work for your baby but the shape is not ideal for combo feeding at all. It almost ended my breastfeeding journey because it caused nipple confusion being so narrow and not as elastic as other brands. I loved that they didn't leak when tipped over. And they were sturdy plastic that didn't tear or need replacing often. They did get cloudy and need to be boiled to get residue off once in a while. I wish they would rethink the shape and keep everything else the same!

Not sure if I would get those bottles or nipples for the baby ever again because they do deteriorate quite quickly with using formula in the bottles
