Hooked on Phonics: Discover Reading - Baby Edition

The "Hooked on Phonics: Discover Reading - Baby Edition" has been put together very nicely. The kit features a step by step parents guide that aids in your child's development. My only complaint is that the accomping DVD is difficult to play and sometimes repeats the songs. That being said I would recommend this item to a friend of a family member.

I am a first time parent and found these books to be very helpful. Our girl loves turning the pages and seeing all of the images as I read to her. Great way to get them reading early.

The kit comes with a CD with chilren's song's that compliment the books that come with the kit. The CD is well produced, not like some of the ones out there. I use both the CD and the books a lot. The books are strong and sturdy so little hands can explore them without breaking them. I have to add that the songs and the books could be found other places and you might pay less, but, they compliment each other so well and the quality is great. There is also a growth cart, poster, and stickers that I chose not to use. There is also a DVD I put in when we are on a long trip my son enjoys watching. The most important is the parent's resource book. With the help of that book, I'm able to create a program personalized for my child and me. My son loves his HOP books and DVD and the progress he's made reading is noticeable and encouraging. I liked it so much I got the toddler and pre-K boxes as well.

I was hoping for more from this set, but was a bit disappointed. First, the set didn't give us much that we didn't already have. It's several small books with the thick, hard pages. We already had a bunch of those. The CD that comes with it has music that is awful in my opinion. I know the music's not for the parent, but I have trouble believing he enjoys this. It's has these very strange versions of common songs, like a smooth jazz version of the itsy bitsy spider. The DVD has the same music, but with people performing and parents with babies dancing to the music. The DVD also has people telling stories with pictures on the screen, but the pictures and stories are the same thing as is in the book.I don't want to say the set's all bad, but if you have a bunch of the type of books I'm talking about, you already have the thing that is of the biggest value in this set.

I had to write a review after i saw all of the bad ones. The product is disappointing for the money you spend. You expect to see much more in the box. However, the product is not for the parent. It is for your baby. My daughter loves it! We have tons of hard books and regular books and cartoon movies for her, but she literally goes up to the hooked on phonics box and starts pointing to the computer for the dvd or gets all of the books out and comes to me to read it. The books and dvd are simple, but they are perfect for her age.

Discover Reading Baby Deluxe Edition (Boxed Set) My 8 month has been doing very well with this product! It keeps him entertained, although it is still too early to tell if he is learning, I'm sure he will pick up something- being as this keeps his attention.

The books are only good for the pics and not the content; the video can put a caffeine addict to sleep. If you want your baby to learn the alphabet, buy Leap Frog's Letter Factory. Teaches them the alhpabet in a very fun format set to catchy jingles that are lot's of fun and keep their attention. It teaches the letters and the phonics associated with those letters... and you will pay FAR LESS for it as well as being far more effective.

I stronly recomend this product I have had the best results incorporating this product to my child's education that I have bough this one to give it to my baby cousin. I stongle recomend it to families with kids with some speech delay since tha language is extremely clear helping new learners to speak and pronounce words faster
