Great air fryer
Positives: it is energy efficient, versatile, cooks food perfectly and in very little time. Looks great in my kitchen. Has a grill plate for that nice charred lines effect you can use for chicken breast /beefburgers etc. Easy to clean, but sometimes I use disposable liners to avoid cleaning it (depending on what I’m cooking).Negatives: the first one I ordered was faulty (the fan was making a strange noise), so I returned it for replacement and the second one is fine up to now. It’s not the cheapest one on the market. It is easy to use but the grill function is basically just a pre-heat function to heat the grill plate before you use the air fryer, so it isn’t a separate setting really, but that’s fine. The pre-sets are a bit pointless in my opinion, they aren’t that accurate, so I just set the temperature and time myself and switch it on, I usually cook everything on 200 and just adjust the time accordingly (make sure to check things halfway through and turn them if necessary).Info: Most things take about a third less time than an oven cooking time (except you don’t have to pre-heat the air fryer, unless you are heating the grill plate first to get the charred lines on meat). eg. If packet oven instructions are “200 degrees/oven 20 minutes/fan-oven 16 minutes”: use the 20 minutes as your guide and knock off about a third, meaning air fryer time is 13-14 minutes at 200. Tip: if things are frozen they need turning halfway through cooking and can take a few minutes longer than non-frozen items.

So much better results, quicker, & convenient than full size fan oven. Good size too.
It cooks well and quickly and is very easy to keep clean - just hot soapy water and a cloth. Results are better - chips, bread crumb coated meats, for example, are much better, nice and crisp - than using fan oven.Despite being 4.1 litre, it has a relatively small footprint, which is great because I don’t have too much work space to spare. For ready meals, pies, etc I reduce recommended temperatures on the pack by 20C and cooking times by 10 to 15 minutes. At the end of cooking time, if it looks not quite done, I up the temp to 200C for two to three minutes, but mostly it’s OK with what I set to begin with.Surprisingly the top stays cool, and the case only gets warmish at the bottom - so no burnt fingers. Two observations: when using the grill, it does not produce the grill marks claimed (not important for me), but does turn out a nice rare steaks (1 minute each side for me) and grills pork & lamp chops ( 2 to 3 mins each side to my taste); secondly the beep sometimes, most of the time in fact, does not sound at the end of cooking. I have stood next to it to ensure it is not just a case of me not hearing, but it does say OFF on the display.Overall - a great appliance at a reasonable price. Very pleased with it after a couple of weeks of use. I previously had a Philips Airfryer for three years, but this one us much better.

Re-energises the bored home cook!
I've always been a late adopter to most new fads, and yet again with the air fryer! I couldn't escape the hype on TV/Radio and social media, and I recently deep cleaned my oven which I deeply resented on maybe the last warm and sunny day of year! When I make a home purchase, I tend to go to the top end of the market, as buy cheap buy twice mantra, but those brands sold out nationwide with never ending waiting lists and this brand popped up on recommendations from Amazon. Tefal is a brand I know and trust, and it's a good looking appliance, larger than I really need, but I like to batch cook, so I took the plunge, and this model is not available widely. I am now one of those people who profess the benefits of the air fryer! I've used it everyday since purchase. Like most reviews state, it's short on instructions, but easy to navigate and cook to your own preferences. Of course I tested with shop bought oven chips, which came out way better than an oven cook, and of course, quicker. Experimented with home made chips, a whole chicken, it accommodates 2.2Kg with ease, a meat thermometer is recommended for peace of mind, and tummy. My model is the 6.5L, I think a lot of the reviews are a mixture of all the Tefal Air Fryers available on Amazon. It runs quietly, so not sure how others say it's noisy, and it's easy to clean.I would have given it all round 5 stars bar a few of nit picking issues. It doesn't have a power on/off button; once it's switched on from the mains, it powers on, a minor irritant, to have to reach behind the unit all the time, but maybe that's for safety(?) It also seems impossible to cancel any cooking time without moving the countdown to 0, and when you're checking on food, it pauses the cook, but the timer is still counting down. I also wish when setting a manual cook, the temp and time counters moved ascending as opposed to descending, if you're not concentrating, you have a hotter and longer cook as the max setting is pre set, especially if you want to pre heat. Finally the grill plate is difficult to place in and remove, as it has recessed dips at the sides which are not easy to get to or to handle. All in all, I'm happy with cooking quality, the look, a nice flush facade, its quiet and a 2 year guarantee. I look forward to using it, and it's revived my home cooking skills and enthusiasm, especially as most of our meals are eaten at home presently, as going out is a little out of reach for most of us at present.
