Yes, I use mine outside for movies in the back yard and they work great. You just need to have an extension cord available to plug in.

is this good for a large banquet hall for a party ?

I used this pair as sound support for a theater production in a banquet facility that holds 200 people and it worked fine. I fed it from a PA system with a line level output. There is an upper limit to what you can do for volume without distortion. The specs say 350W per unit, but I'm not sure that's accurate for a small 8" speaker.
