Epson TM-T20II Thermal Printer for a small business.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Reliable Workhorse for a Small Business I’ve been using the Epson TM-T20II Direct Thermal Printer (USB) for about 3 years in my small indoor playground business, printing receipts daily, and it has been extremely reliable. It’s been easy to set up and use, and replacing the receipt paper rolls is quick and simple — which really matters during busy days. We’ve had no issues or breakdowns the entire time. Its compatible with switching from a desktop to a laptop computer. Does not have bluetooth. The only small downside is that I haven’t found a way to stop the extra paper cutoff, so it does waste a little paper. That said, it hasn’t been a big enough issue to outweigh how dependable the printer has been overall. I’d definitely recommend it.

Technical Support is Beyond Worthless
TL;DR: If you are a professional developer stay away from EPSON. The printer itself is great, but EPSON's technical support is beyond worthless. I am desperately trying to download their JavaPOS drivers so that I can integrate advanced functionality into our POS program, but I can't download the drivers from their website. Before I log into their website I can see the drivers I want to download, but then when I log in the JavaPOS files disappear. If I copy the direct download link and then login I get sent to an error page that says "You are not authorized to view this page." This is an obvious file permission problem on their own webserver--I can download any other driver, just not the JavaPOS one. However, after spending 2 hours with their support staff they told me that I needed to create another account and try again... So I did and, low and behold, the same permission problem existed. Their unbelievable response was to try and create another account again, for the third time. When I told them to pack sand, they told me to contact my OS vendor, as if somehow Microsoft is going to give a single flip about a technical problem on EPSON's website. Their support staff was adamant that my inability to access a part of their website was due to a problem with Windows 10, "because they can access it on their Windows 7 computers." Unreal. Stupid doesn't get much stupider than that. Furthermore they tried to explain to me that they didn't have any problem downloading it on their, obviously elevated, admin accounts. Yes, I get it, your super user permissions can download the file, how again does that apply to my regular account? Update: Its like a bad joke, it keeps getting worse. Having gotten no where with phone technical support I contacted their web support which promptly gave me a link to their standard printer drivers which was nothing at all related to the JavaPOS drivers that I've been literally pleading for. After several hours of back and forth communication someone eventually ended up personally sending me the file to install, but when I attempted to open the file the installer has a common Java bug and fails! Granted, there is a workaround to run the installer in spite of the bug, but their absolute unprofessionalism is astounding. They literally blamed the bug on my computer setup and refused to look into it further when the bug is a well documented Java Version bug.

best thermal printer in this price range, hands down
i bought this printer to complement my diy pos system. the other items include a dell computer and monitor , and this cash drawer , all for under $700. the printer included the epson opos drivers, which allowed me to install the printer to the computer very easily. this printer also communicates with the cash drawer perfectly, and allowed me to add a custom image to the top of the receipt with very little effort. i picked up some ncr receipt paper also, which works great in the printer. print quality is excellent, and the speed is plenty fast. the cutter also works very well. the footprint is small enough that the printer fits neatly behind the monitor, on top of the cash drawer. servicing the printer is also very easy, as all you need to do is open the top, toss in a new roll of paper, and make sure some extra paper is sticking out the top when you close it; no feeding paper through rollers or any of that headache. it does all the work for you. i can't believe this printer costs ~$150! i would expect something that works this well to cost at least twice as much (as many other options do). i can't recommend this thermal printer highly enough!

Great little printer
I have to admit that the driver install for this printer kind of threw me for a loop. It can be installed using either POS (Point of Sale) or standard drivers - and I got hung up trying to get the POS drivers installed and configured. After blowing a few hours on that, I found the standard drivers - and then everything worked perfectly. Anyway, for us the standard drivers are the right choice - but there are some systems that require the POS drivers. Once everything is installed, the performance is impressive. This printer is also very easy to load and use! I love that we can print PDF417 barcodes on our receipts using simple font substitution. If you have any control over your printing software, I would highly recommend looking into that function of the printer driver. (Although we use PDF417, the printer can also generate many other 1D and 2D barcode types.) Overall, I would definitely recommend giving this printer a shot. We're using a couple of them in the front of our store without any issues at all.
