Wanted to love them, but...
The bottom line was that the sound was too muddy, too mid-low heavy, without the clarity I expect from a speaker of this price range. My pair of Paradigm Atom SE's, for less than 50% of the price, same size, and same size of components, offers a wider and more balanced soundstage.

Moments of good, then it sounds worse
This speaker does add weight to notes and that is something I was looking for. However, while it has moments which sound right, or good at least, alot of information is obscured. I know people like a warmer speaker but it goes between warm and bright, obscurred details and then it presents something unexpected, etc. It's like a speaker that can be likened to the sein-feld episode of the two face episode. Don't know how else to describe it.While the bass was supposedly tightened up from the previous model, it more gets in the way than it lends support. Details that are needed in the upper mids and treble which are needed for notes to sound more alive are so obscurred or gone. Piano while weighty, sounded unnatural to me. Sometimes female voices would sound really nice and sometimes not. Male voices seemed good. The stage was flatter than I hoped but not completely 2D.I think I liked listening to it from an adjacent room as opposed to between the speakers. A very strange speaker experience. Burn in time was sufficient and it was on an upscale amp.As to the construction, it was a relatively heavier speaker probably due to the double magnet construction. Giving a knuckle test to the walls it seemed kind of hollow sounding and not damped or braced enough. The matte finish was very white and looked relatively cheap. On a positive, the speaker connections were really nice and took the entire plug. Overall, kind of disappointing.I know there are many users who have totally opposite opinions and that speakers can sound better as you move up the line but that's mine. Stage was large enough but nothing to write home about, just average. Sibilant passages where decently controlled but it wasn't completely free of glare depending on the material played. My far less expensive speakers were more enjoyable as they do more right without the sins of omission, other than deep bass...but that's almost all small standmounts.
