Great product... even better customer service
This review is as much about the quality of Power Practical's customer service as it is about the product itself. I ordered the color bias lights in the large size for my 58" plasma TV. Once I received the item, I realized that a portion of the strip was not working properly. Only about the first 2 feet of the strip acted appropriately to all of the different modes and colors. The remainder of the strip would not light up at all except for the color green. I contacted PP's customer service via email through Amazon. Included pictures of the light strip and the issues it was having rendering it defective. I was responded to the same day from a wonderful CSR named Aurora. Aurora kindly apologized for the defective light strip that I had received and promptly put in a replacement order for me. She didn't even require me to return the defective item back to Amazon! This was certainly a time-saver for me and was much appreciated. She treated me with the utmost respect and we even shared some unrelated conversation about home towns in the email exchanges that we had. True to her word, she got me out a replacement item that worked perfectly! I cannot say enough about Aurora's kindness and willingness to ensure that I, the customer, had a pleasant experience. I would definitely not hesitate to purchase something from Power Practical again in the future. As for the product itself... it's awesome! Installation takes 5 minutes from prep to being done. The large strip was long enough for me to completely go around my 58" TV with enough to run approximately 4" on the bottom of each side of the TV. The lighting itself is superb. It was the only lighting on in the room and my eyes never felt strained after watching nearly 5 hours of television (I had a long work night that involved a lot of doing nothing, so I was watching TV). I'm not sure I will use any of the modes that perform things like fading from color to color. I most certainly won't use the strobe mode (unless, maybe I plan on a disco party in the future!). But, the solid color modes are most excellent and exactly what I was looking to get from this product. It definitely enhanced the viewing experience and I did notice a marked difference in the on-screen quality as well. I'm sure there are some optic tricks that are occurring within the eye itself with the bias lighting. But things like the black levels were definitely more enhanced using the bias lighting. Anyone looking for a low-cost method for bias lighting should definitely give this item serious consideration. They offer a white-only version that is even cheaper for those not looking to indulge in any colors. Kudos to Power Practical because the product is excellent and if the customer service I received from Aurora is any indication, then this company definitely puts a premium on quality of both product and service.

Totally worth it!
Ok,I'll be 100% honest,I've never owned or used or even personally seen anybody using led tv backlighting before.only just recently on some YouTube gaming or tv setups and it pretty much hooked me on the idea of trying it out and it looked awesome.so I browsed around, saw some pretty good deals but they were somewhat more complicated than they needed to be,you cut this and connect with this to that piece, ect.I could manage, but I didn't want the hassle.so I found these and they were cheap and easy to use and setup, plus even had the remote to customize your lighting pretty much anyway you pleased,in theory.well, they weren't lying,it's super easy to install(just take some time to make sure you do it right)and no need to have an external power supply, just hook it into the usb on the back of your tv(provided it has one but most tv's nowadays has at least one,if not 2 or 3)and voila! Setup and ready to go.and customizing the brightness, color and striving effects are super easy, the remote keeps it simple. You also have an inline remote attached to the strip itself(should you lose your portable remote)and it acts as the receiver.now that I've had this for a month now and it looks so great,I can't ever imagine going back to not having one,it looks that good.my only real gripe would be that I wish they were a little brighter, but they still look amazing.leds still work great,no dying, dead or flickering leds and they power on provided your tv is on.I'd highly recommend these to anyone looking at getting into or looking at alternative tv backlighting.you won't be disappointed.

High quality and looks great!
I've been seeing this for a while and decided to give it a try. I have a 43" Samsung TV and the Large size (9.8 ft) fit perfectly around the edge without trimming or overlapping. The best part about it is that it plugs right into the back of the TV via USB, instead of running a separate adapter from an outlet. It has many color and brightness settings, and can be set to change colors, or if you have a party, you can make it flicker rapidly. My TV hangs on the wall and the light gives a nice aura, and it actually give enough light that at night I don't need any other lights on. The other good thing about this plugging directly into the TV is that when you turn on the TV, the light turns on too, and when you turn it off, the lights turn of about 15 seconds later. One small glitch I discovered is that sometimes after I turn off the TV and the lights turn off, after a few seconds they'll turn back on again, so I'll have to turn if off again. Other than that little thing, I like the quality of it. It comes with 3M adhesive so you know it's good stuff. Very easy to install, just peel and stick. Gives the TV and the room a little extra something.

Waaay cooler than expected.
I recently wall-mounted my TV and the Luminoodle not only helps it look clean and awesome, but reduces eye strain, and sets the mood just right. Love the RF remote, which means the Luminoodle is completely hidden yet responds to the remote control. Love that there are fifteen color options and several lighting modes. I thought it only did five colors: white, blue, green, red, and yellow. It actually does fifteen. Fifteen is AWESOME. There’s blue-green, purple, and mint too. The color can also be either stationary or cycles at various speeds. Brightness can also be adjusted. Installation was pretty easy, but you really have to plan the track first. I have the XL and it fit perfectly around a 65” TV (Sony 65XBR900F). Just be careful with the corner bends. Be sure to fold it over itself CAREFULLY and do not stretch it. My initial installation broke a section, but Amazon replaced it immediately. Love the awesome customer service. The one downside is that my TV’s USB ports are always on, even when the TV is off, so I have to manually turn the Luminoodle on and off every time. It’s a bit of a bummer, but that’s on me. I had wanted this to automatically turn on and off. Be sure to check if your TV’s ports are always active.

100% Worth It
These lights are fantastic. I work a lot in the evenings/nights and really prefer working in the dark. Bias lighting really takes all the eye strain out of it. I've been using bias lighting in the form of lamps behind my monitors for years, but desk lamps are a bit clunky and you only have one setting: On. Installation was a breeze. The LED strips have a 3M double sided tape on them and the hardest part is getting that started. I used a similar double sided tape to mount the in-line controller to each monitor and plug the cable into the monitor's USB (which I discovered are actually powered even if the USB hub isn't connected to a computer). The only real trouble I had was due to the pictures hanging above my monitors. If the LEDs were too high on the back of the monitors, I could see them plain as day as their reflection was shining in my eyes. I just had to pull them off and mount them 3-4" below the top of the monitor to remedy that. As expected, the remote control that comes with these works with multiple strands of lights at the same time, so I now have an extra remote in case it ever breaks. To reiterate the instructions: plan where you're placing the lights before you start pulling off the tape's backing. I plugged in the USB first, then mounted the in-line control, and then started pulling the tape off in ~12" increments as I ran the lights around the monitor. Super easy. I may get a set for my TV next. Beyond that, having several colors to choose from is a great perk that I like more than I expected. As well, having brightness controls on the LEDs is absolutely fantastic (though I typically run them at their brightest setting).

TCL 55P605 perfect fit, full edge coverage, nice brightness, RF remote... am I dreaming?
BASIC REVIEW: - I bought the XL size (13.1 feet) for my 55" TCL 55P605 (2017 Best Buy version of the TV) and holy wow did it fit perfectly. I tried not to get my hopes up that it would be complete coverage until I had completely laid it out and taped it to the back of my TV with painter's tape, then I got stoked. It was so perfect, see pictures. - Squiggly ribbon geometry on the LED strip makes folding those perfect 90 deg corners much easier if you fold it at the biggest squiggliest part. - Brightness is good enough for me and color choices are also good enough. I plan to leave it on the soft white preset color, top right color on the remote. Next best color is the light orange color. I kind of wish there was another, darker orange between the light orange and the deep red. - Remote is RF so you don't need line-of-sight to make it work and your IR TV remote won't mess with it. Pro tip, keep the little plastic strip that blocks the battery contact and put it back in when you're not using the remote so the battery doesn't drain. Color the end of it red with a sharpie so you don't lose it when it's out. - In-line controls are a bit fiddly to get to on the back of the TV but it helps if you stick the controller in place with some 3M VHB tape. Read the instructions to figure out how to control all the modes and brightness with just the 3 buttons. - Gets 5 stars for now, hopefully this product lasts a long time since the fit and appearance is basically perfect on my TV. If it fails prematurely I will update this review. IN-DEPTH/TV-SPECIFIC REVIEW: - This product has the 5050 LED chips, which are the larger combined elements that each contain smaller R/G/B LEDs, opposed to the older 3528 style which has separate elements on the strip for each color. The 5050 chips on this strip give nice uniform colors and none of that annoying color shadow effect. The strip itself is white and the elements are bare (i.e. NO silicone covering) but that allows you to fold the corners neatly into 90 deg angles. - There are a few different folding options for making 90-deg corners. If you are careful to fold the correct direction you can make sure that the nearest LED element to the corner ends up on TOP of the stack and therefore avoids casting shadows on the wall. I got really lucky and all 4 corners of my TV ended up with an LED almost exactly in the corner so the backlight coverage is amazing and a complete border. I didn't stick the strip all the way down in 2 corners so that the LED would face straight back instead of angled in towards the middle of the TV (see pics). - For installation, this TCL 55P605 had a border along both sides and the top that was perfectly the width of this LED strip... like they were made for each other. Along the bottom was less perfect and required some bridging up and over a few protruding sections but it came out fine (see pics). - The strip ends overlapped by about one 3" section, which I decided to leave on instead of cutting off. Can't notice any brighter spot from the front so I will leave it. - Use some double-sided tape to hold the in-line controller to the back of the TV and keep it from drooping and twisting off the LED strip. - If you are curious about whether this TCL TV can power this strip, which claims to need 5V/1A in the setup sheet (although it clearly says 5V/0.8A on the packaging), it absolutely can. TCL does NOT give a max power rating to their USB ports, but it powers this XL LED strip just as bright as plugging it into a USB wall adapter. - I also use a chromecast (original 720p version, I know it's old) that came with a wall adapter that outputs a max of 850mA (although it probably doesn't draw much more than like 500-600mA). I previously had this plugged into the TV's only USB port so that it turns off with the TV and doesn't stay on all the time, heating the electronics 24/7. I experimented with using a USB splitter to allow both the Luminoodle LED strip and the chromecast to draw power from my TV's single USB port and... it worked. Lights don't seem any dimmer with the Chromecast plugged in and streaming, and the chromecast works fine with no issues. - At max I am drawing 1.85A through that single USB port, which seems like a lot for a TV port unless it's rated to run a HDD or something in which case it might be rated to 1.5-2.0A, but again TCL doesn't specify the power rating. I'm guessing the LED strip is only drawing 0.8A per the packaging (they say you need a 1.0A rated port, but most products only draw ~80% of the rated port for safety) and the chromecast is probably drawing about 0.6A max when streaming for a total of 1.4A, which seems like a reasonable load the TV should be able to handle. I don't use the chromecast all that often since the TV has a Roku built in but I will leave them both plugged in and see if any issues arise. Hopefully that only USB port doesn't get fried... COMPARISON TO OTHER PRODUCTS - I went back and forth between this product and one of the others with 4 pre-cut strips but eventually decided to get this one with the one long strip that would require corner folding and/or end cutting with hopes that I could buy a larger size and get full edge coverage on my 55" TV. The chances of getting an absolutely perfect corner-to-corner coverage with any pre-cut strip package seemed quite low, and those kits had several wires to deal with instead of just the one with this kit. Long story short, this Luminoodle product worked out perfectly for my 55" TV. - If you have a TV larger than a 55", you might be able to get a full rectangle of coverage with the XL size of this product but you will definitely need to offset the lights in from the edge of the TV by several inches, which will give you a dimmer backlight appearance. For any 55" TV this should be able to give you pretty much perfect edge coverage, depending on how thick the bezels are, but make sure to lay it out and fold it gently before actually sticking it on for keeps. This product still seems like it's the most flexible and will give you the best chance of making a custom setup for your TV, regardless of size, opposed to any pre-cut package. - The one benefit of the pre-cut strips featured on some other products is that they can be the waterproof version of the LED strip encased in a continuous silicone bead which is not necessarily beneficial for waterproofness when mounted on a TV but those strips also tend to be more durable since you can't break off any of the electronic components (I've knocked off LEDs from the non-sealed strips so be careful). These waterproof strips CANNOT be bent into nice 90 degree corners, however, so you don't really have a good option for getting perfect edge coverage with one long, continuous strip like you do with this Luminoodle product.

Just what I was looking for, RF Remote, Plenty of lighting options!
This system operates as described, it's capable of pulsating the brightness (Mode 2) which is not what you want for a TV Bias light but mode 1 is constant light and after selecting the color and adjusting the brightness this mode performs great as a bias light. My TV turns the power on & off to the USB jack so the bias lights come on and off with the TV. NOTE, the power is shut off about 6 seconds after the TV is turned off so be patient. Plenty of colors to choose from for bias lighting and a decent range of brightness. The system remembers the last setting so now that it is installed I will probably never change anything. The system came already paired to the remote which works well even with the receiver mounted behind the TV, the remote has 6 preset colors one of which should meet your needs, I'm boring, I selected the white color which is actually an off white. After you get the system adjusted where you like it you can put away the remote or misplace the remote like I probably will. If your TV does not control the power to the USB jack you might need the remote to power the bias lights on & off. If you do not have a spare USB or any USB jacks you will need to use your own USB power supply (adapter), you may have a drawer full of these like I do. All standard USB power is 5 volts DC, you will need to use a supply that is rated for MORE than 1 amp of current or MORE than 5 watts, otherwise you will eventually have problems. The output current capacity is labeled on all USB power supplies. Installation went well, I cut off about 2.5 ft of light tape that was not needed and the 3M labeled adhesive seem to stick well although only time will tell how good the adhesive is. I removed the TV from the wall mount and laid it flat on the carpeted floor, this allowed me to easily clean the TVs plastic and install the LED tape. If you do something similar to what I did (laying the TV on FLAT the floor) please remember that it doesn't take much pressure or twisting on the TV to damage the screen. Adjusting bias lighting has been documented on the internet, google it... The primary point of bias lighting is to reduce the strain on your eyes, I have not noticed any exceptional changes in regards to my health or wellbeing in the last 3 days of using the bias light but I do believe it helps. Room lighting also effects how bias lighting effects your eyes... Also, according to the internet bias lighting can increases the perceived contrast of the on-screen image. So far I am very happy with this purchase.

Excellent customer service and great product.
Just wanted to say that Power Practical has provided me with the best customer service ever. I had bought a different product from them (the all white led strip) which had great reviews. However it never made it to my possession. It was unfortunately stolen but it was kind of my fault since I do live in NYC and things like this happen all the time. After I found out it was stolen, I didn't think too much of it. I'm not the one to ask for refunds or if the seller could provide me with a new one. This was not the sellers fault so I just counted it as a lost and moved on with my life. A few weeks later, the seller had emailed me asking how I liked the product. Normally I don't bother following up on recent orders but I figured I'd tell them what had happen not thinking anything of it. So they actually gave me a refund and apologized even though it was not their fault. It was such a nice thing for them to do. After receiving my refund, I knew I had to attempt to purchase the product again. Instead of getting the all white LED strip, I wanted to get the ones that change colors. Not only am I satisfied with their customer service, their product is actually really nice too. I've had the strip installed on my TV for about a month now with no problems. I like the fact that I can adjust the colors and brightness. I also do a lot of gaming at night with the lights off. These actually helped my eyes greatly at in dark. Very great product, superb customer service, would definitely purchase more in the future. Thank you!

Funktioniert alles super.

Top Produkteigenschaften & ausgezeichneter Kundendienst.
