Non-Professional Review
I’ll preface by saying I am not a professional music producer I don’t make music I bought these headphones purely for my enjoyment.Comfort: These are comfy headphones, I own a pair of Sony WH-1000XM3 which are pretty much the comfiest headphones out there so I knew they would be a step down, but I was surprised. Ear cups are very soft and comfy, the cups fit over my ears just fine and I have quite big ears. There is a little bit of clamping pressure in front of my ears which isn’t that bad but I think would become noticeable after a few hours usage, the headphones are very light so doesn’t hurt the top of my head - 4.5/5Build Quality: They are very well built, love the easily replaceable parts, no issues with creaking or flexing. Also love that the audio cable has a 1.5 inch and 3.5mm jack in one - 5/5Sound Quality: This probably goes without saying, but you really have to be in a quiet setting to appreciate these headphones. Coming from consumer headphones to studio headphones I realise why they are a niche product. They are very flat - there are no defining characteristics, highs are sparkly, lows are deep and warm (when they need to be) and mids ever so slightly less present but it is hard to notice. To the average person they might not be able to fully appreciate how good the sound is because they are so flat. Isolation is good, but for £200 you’re not getting the top of the line, it is however much better than the Sonys. Interesting to adjust the EQ on songs - whatever sound you’re looking for can be produced e.g. if I raise the bass it makes no noticeable difference to mids and highs (I don’t have any equipment to measure this but its not noticeable to the untrained ear anyway). I have noticed that when there are lots of instrumentals playing loudly and singing over the top the sound starts to crumble away which I’m sure is because I don’t have an amplifier - they are only 48 ohms but to get their full potential I would recommend getting an amp. Conclusion - Best £200 I ever spent on a pair of headphones, the value is absolutely insane - I was hoping for an enjoyable listening experience and thats definitely what I got. Will be buying an amp to get 100% potential but definitely worth the money.

Neutral accurate detailed
How do you listen to music, and what relationship do you want with it? These headphones major on detail and neutrality as they are purposed for critical monitoring and mixing in studio environments. Which is not how I use them. They are plugged in to my smartphone via a little AudioQuest Dragonfly Cobalt DAC for enjoyable music listening, mostly at home. Comfy. Lightweight. Closed back isolation. Easy load to drive. Not exactly discreet but you could take them out when you travel, because you are a discerning listener, less concerned about what they look like, and more interested in how they make your music sound. Right? And how is that? Very accurate, detailed, revealing, allowing you to listen right into the mix, stable, composed, good separation and soundstage, nimble. They put out what you put in, so don’t expect them to smooth over badly recorded, over compressed, or poorly mixed content. The better your source the better they sound. Always a benchmark for good audio gear. Initially they take some getting used to. First, some time is needed for them to break in, despite what the manufacturer tells you about “ ready out of the box”. However break in time is a lot less than many other audiophile components. Leave music running through them overnight at a reasonable volume or better, one of those wide frequency range burn in cds that have all sorts of blips, peeps and rumbles on them. Done that? OK, so where’s the bass? It’s all there, but not boosted so that it interferes with other frequencies. That might put some off, as might a certain sense of detachment. These Beyers don’t get you on stage with the band. Instead you are further back in the auditorium, right where the guys on the mixing desk are sitting. You are in the correct place, listening to everything that’s going on rather than abandoning yourself to shaking your stuff right down at the front. That’s how they are designed. To monitor. Whether you consider this a drawback depends on how you like your music served up. I’d say don’t be put off. I’m loving them, and your music will sound great once your ears and brain have adjusted to the differences. Be patient and you will get your reward. Well designed, easy to wear, robust, replaceable parts, well priced. Proper bargain.

The Beyerdynamic DT 700 Pro X sound fantastic
The media could not be loaded. Incredible sound quality, fantastic build quality yet lightweight. Hours long comfort. If you need a set of high quality closed back headphones to block out the sound of your children whilst you're trying to focus, then these are a fantastic buy. What hifi were spot on when they rated these 5 star.
