Great monitor for someone with poor blood flow!
This is the best pulse ox I've had yet! I have POTS and MCAS, so I have cold hands a lot, especially when I'm feeling terrible and need to monitor my heart rate and oxygen closely. A couple other cheaper ones I've tried won't get a reading unless I'm getting great blood flow to my hands, which is obviously useless to me. I need something that can tell me how high my heart rate is and how low my oxygen is so I know when I need to go to the hospital, and so I can give intake my stats so they can get me care ASAP. Anyway, I leveled up and bought this guy. This thing has been great and gotten me through several bad events with accurate readings. I was comparing to the hospital's readings- spot on! Anyway, I would especially recommend to anyone with chronic health problems like me. It's been a great comfort to have this reliable little tool.

Easy to Use
This oximeter seems to be accurate. I've checked it out against the medical oximeters in two doctor's offices and also with the oximeter used by a pulmonary function tester. It is easy to use. Really easy. I had a store bought oximeter before I got this one. I was told by two different people who work with pulmonary patients, that the one I had was not accurate. They were not kidding. The one I had told me that my oxygen level was 98% sitting in a chair without oxygen. When I received the Nonin, it turned out that if I took my oxygen off, my oxygen level would go down to 90% in three to five minutes. With the other device, it would go down to 96% in the same amount of time. Unfortunately, it turned out I am not as well as I thought I was. But at least i no longer run the risk of making myself worse.

Not worth the extra money for US made product
i am disappointed in the Go 2 oximeter. I own three of them they are quite expensive and I would think that they would last for a long time. the one I bought in 2012 just stopped working Its difficult to know why it stopped. the battery has been replaced and the red light which measures the pulse stays on all the time. this would seem to mean that somehing has shorted out inside. I can buy 3 or 4 cheaper machines and have a new one each year, but I thought the US made would be better quality. the other two are still working but I wait for those to die too very disappointing and no way to get them repaired

Easy to use and accurate compared to hospital readings
Nonin GO2 Achieve OximeterMy father was recently admitted to the hospital with a pulmonary embolism. His oxygen levels were dangerously low and we knew that when he was released from the hospital he would be on oxygen for a while. I bought this oximeter so that we could easily track his oxygen levels at home.First, and most important, this oximeter is very accurate. We compared its reading to the large unit they used at the hospital and it was always within 1 point of the hospital's reading. After the hospital, my father was in an nursing facility for a month while his lung healed. The entire time we were able to use our oximeter and again it was always within 1 point of the nursing unit readouts. Now he is at home and we have total confidence in this oximeter. This device is so easy to use. There is no off/on switch, you simply put it on your finger and it takes a reading in about 5 seconds. When you take it off your finger, it automatically turns off. Although a reading appears quickly, it is best to wait 30-60 seconds to let the reading settle down so it is more accurate. The oxygen saturation reading is in large digits. Below that is your heart rate, in smaller font size. For those of us who need reading glasses, it would be better if Nonin made the pulse rate the same size as the oxygen reading. :) However, it is very handy that both the saturation and heart rate are available on one screen. I didn't realize it when I was researching oximeters, but it ends up that if you need to track oxygen saturation for medical reasons, you typically also need to track the patient's heart rate. It worked out great that this device has both.An additional great feature is that the LCD display is backlit. When I was researching oximeters, I didn't really think about a feature such as backlighting. Once we had the device, it was obvious that a backlit screen is a must have. It's impossible to read the LCD in a dimly lit room otherwise. The unit comes with a standard AAA battery. If you use the device very frequently during the day/night, you will need to replace the battery frequently (more than once a week).Overall, we are extremely happy with this device. After seeing how well it worked, a friend of the family bought one. That unit reads the same as or within 1 point of our original unit. Good to see that a second unit was as accurate as ours. We've had our oximeter for about 3 months now and it's still going strong. Very happy with our purchase.

Partially Satisfied, Partially Not
I ordered my GO2 Achieve when they were a brand new product. I got it in May '09. It worked very well until about 6 months ago. Now I have a hard time getting it to even read sometimes. I see it starting to pulse and it just stops and will not restart. (I'm a guy who does not wear fingernail polish!) I take it off and wait a few minutes and it usually works on the 2nd or 3rd try. This is very frustrating.Next, the casing is molded rubber. It has started coming lose from the plastic shell. I don't think it is going to last thru the warranty period. I have a call into them and hope they will replace it. Either way, I will try to update this when I see how well they perform on service.

Nonin Go2 Pulse Oximeter
It worked just fine for about 4 months. One day it would not work, I assumed a bad battery and replaced it. Still it did not work. I layed it on my desk for a few days before I decided to return it for repair or replacement. I removed the battery and sent it off. Nonin returned it with a note that it had moisture in it so that voided the warranty. I called and told them what happened and how and they still denied fault. I made my living with electronic repair, I am educated in electronics and it's circuitry. This instrument failed with a good battery in it. I replaced it with a new one, it still didn't work. The circuitry failed with a short which caused the battery failure. When I put the new one in it the short caused the battery to weep. These were copper top batteries, so the short had to be severe to cause any leak. I explained that to Nonin but it made no difference. My advice is to avoid Nonin products like the plague. They do not stand behind theit products.

Good basic pulse oximeter
This is a good basic pulse oximeter for daily community healthcare. The manufacturer Nonin is well known in the medical community for making higher end kit, and it is good to see that they have made a cheaper home version. The fingertip pulse oximeter is well built, only runs on one battery, and automatically functions when a finger is put in. There is a back light for dark situations as well. The machine is quite sturdy and can fit into a pocket or case. The only downside is that a case is not provided with the machine, considering the price. Another (relatively small considering what the machine does) downside is the choice of colours: blue/orange/green - sometimes you do wish for a basic black model, but the blue is quite a dark blue. The machine doesn't have the higher end waveform functions of its more expensive brethren, nor pulse oximetry tracing, however unlike what seems like the cheap/dubious import oximeters which seem to have colour screens and recorders, having reliable oximetry is the key which is why I originally went for the Nonin Go2. nonin go2
I give it 5 stars because It gives the confidence of accuracy. I bought another oximeter which was cheaper and admittedly had a far better colour display than the nonin with 6 different ways of viewing the screen and a little moving graph of your pulse.The downside was it rated my oxygen level at 98% where the nonin gave a reading 2% lower at 96%. As a smoker of 44 years I tend to believe the lower figure. The pulse rate for both gadgets was the same.Conclusion; if you buy a cheaper machine for your pulse rate it's probably accurate and you'll save money. If it's your oxygen levels you're after either take a couple of percentage points off, or get the nonin.Last word, The nonins one aaa battery has lasted for months but the display's not the sharpest atteriesThe other brighter machine with 2aaa batteries is also still going strong on the original batteries;

A Reliable Device
This is the second time that I have bought this device for my wife, who suffers from COPD. The first one worked perfectly until it was left in a pocket and did a complete cycle in the washig machine - not recommended. I had no hesitation in buying the same device as a replacement as it is reliable and most important of all accurate

Good accuracy
My wife has hepato-pulmonary syndrome and her SATS range between 75 and 85%, so she always has to have the oximeter and an oxygen cylinder to hand. This fits easily into her handbag and when we have compared it with the GP's and hospitals' meters the readings have been proven accurate. It can take a while, say a minute, for the reading to settle down but usually pretty quick..

cheap and accurate.
This is as accurate as the Nonin Vantage which is much more expensive (which I also own). I compared the readings simultaneously on a patient. Its on the NHS approved list of pulse oximeters
