The Dark Side: Alex Hunter 9

It's like I'm reading a watered down Aliens.
Although the book has a watered down Aliens feel, it's still a good read. Greig Beck's other books are awesome especially Dark Rising.

It's Greig Beck & The Arcadian- what's not to like?!
Another great read from Greig Beck! His writing is superb, the pacing relentless and tense, the characters always seem "real" and fit right in, the creatures are nasty in spades and nothing is ever roll-your-eyes overdone like some other authors. My snob self thinks 5 stars should be only for exceptional books and 4 for very good, solid stories. This is a 4 1/2-star rating- way up there- and almost every Beck book I've read (with the exception of maybe the Primordial series, which I still thought of as OK) is 4 stars or above to me. I give it 5 stars because that is what is in line for a well written, engrossing, kick-ass story with other reviewers. My only knock on this one was there is so much going on in it that Alex and his HAWC troops didn't seem to get enough "ice time" in the game for me. Loved that the truly horrific otherworldly "thing" that stepped up John Carpenter's vision to the absolute height of potential devastation was always one step ahead- and I'll leave the storyline without saying more so as to not drop any spoilers. If you're a Beck fan, get it without thinking. If you've never read Greig Beck and you're a thriller/sci-fi horror fan, be ready to start buying a lot of books!Love the Arcadian series the most, but I've not let go of any of my Greig Beck books because I've read them all more than once (it's great being old and forgetful- everything gets to be "new again"!) and will still enjoy them next time.

Outstanding Icky Bug!
The Dark Side was another outstanding and fun read from one of my favorite icky bug writers, Greig Beck. This Aussie really knows how to put together a great tale where the writing never gets in the way of the story. Using solid third-person limited and past-tense, he told a taut tale of his recurring hero Arcadian (Alex Hunter) who ends up going to the dark side of the moon where mayhem ensues. There were plenty of twists and turns along the way as Alex deals with the vicious icky bug, while also dealing with another one that follows him from earth. I had a great time right to the inevitable conclusion. Highly recommended.

The Arcadian is Out of This World
Alex Hunter doesn't go looking for trouble, he's placed in the middle of it. This is the 9th novel in the Alex Hunter series. Like many of Mr. Beck's books, this is clearly inspired by a classic SciFi movie thriller but Grieg always seems to add a fun and interesting twist when he pays to tribute to that which came before. If you want a fun read with a few twists and always a bit of an unresolved ending, check out The Dark Side.

Mr Beck has done it again! Alex Hunter is BACK!!!!!!
Alex Hunter is the ultimate hero in this latest horror/adventure sci fi novel. Beck's books are like mini-holidays. One is always thoroughly entertained and slightly sad when they are over. No spoilers here. Just enthusiastic praise! If I have any complaint, it is that he doesn't write fast enough! But I don't really mean that. Take your time Mr Beck. Take your time and do it right. Again!

Hang on for an adventure out of this world
Another awesome book from Greig Beck. The mission was simple, a cake run. As usual nothing is straight forward when HAWCS are involved. The stakes are extreme and no one saw this coming. This is as deadly as it gets battling Russians and an enemy of significant power and cunning and it is getting stronger at both at an highly accelerated rate. Time and air is is running out. It is a battle for survival for everyone and no one is safe.I so hope there is a sequel, because it will be a total free for all. Every nation is battle for survival. This is a great read. Thoroughly recommend.
