I've been using this for the past six months to store my freshly ground coffee and it has worked very well. I highly recommend this.I drink coffee daily, so open this very frequently. Most of the time, the container stays sealed until the following day. There have been a handful of occasions where the container does not remain sealed. I simply take a wet paper towel and clean the edge of the container and all is good again.I rated them a five because the customer service is great and the company stands behind the product. A few weeks ago, I damaged the plunger mechanism, so I was unable to seal the container. I sent an email to support and they responded within a few hours, quickly offering to send a replacement. Two days later, I was good to go.

An absolute game changer in storing coffee. I love the value of buying larger quantities of coffee at Costco but no matter how careful I am in resealing the bag, within a week the beans have dried out and lost most of their great flavor. That means I get one week of great coffee followed by three weeks of crummy coffee.In desperation I thought I'd try these. Ordered three of them and I am blown away at how effective they are. The pump will generate an amazingly strong vacuum, sealing the canister and effectively arresting any deterioration to the beans. Pulling up on the center post releases the vacuum allowing access to the stored beans inside.If you are looking for a bullet proof way to keep your beans fresh, this is it.

This is a very excellent product that does the job it is sold for--keeping coffee fresh down to the last bean. Every morning when we open it, the smell of fresh-roasted beans is wonderfully strong! Also, there are design features that make it especially simple to use such as the easy-to-read vacuum pressure gauge. This is a wonderful piece of engineering and production and is quite a bargain. Its stainless and black appearance matches my coffee maker and grinder perfectly as well. Finally, it has just the right volume to hold a pound of coffee.It does seem important to follow the instruction manual and to pay the extra attention needed when preparing the container for its first use, as detailed on the yellow piece of paper inserted in the manual. (This concerns rinsing the inside of the lid very well inside to remove any dust.) I would add that you should not do what I first did--lift the container by the lid before the vacuum is formed! But no harm done.The small company that designed and marketed this product is truly responsive to any questions or solving any problems.

It holds a pound of ground coffee (mine is ground to espresso level) and there is still about 3/4 inch left from the top surface plane of the main container if compacted and settled. So far I tested the vacuum for 4 days completely empty before my coffee arrived and it held the vacuum well. Now with a pound of coffee in each container (I purchased two) I will update if I lose the vacuum. So far I am very pleased about this container. 8-10 pumps and you can really hear the vacuum created when opening the center lid (almost a 2-3 second hiss when opening). For the price I think is an excellent buy. The scoop is also very convenient and sits comfortably on top of the 1# of coffee in each container.

This is a 1st class company. Unfortunately after 1 1/2 years of daily use, my older model Alpha Coffee container wouldn't hold a seal. The support department sent me detailed instructions on how to clean the lid. After following their instructions, the container still wouldn't hold a seal so I wrote them back with my results. After verifying my purchase, they promptly sent me a new container. This company REALLY stands behind their products. I am a big fan of Alpha Grillers, the company that makes this container.Update...I wanted to test how long this new upgraded container would hold a seal. I am please to post that after 3 days without opening, the seal still holds. If you are looking for a container to keep your coffee 100% fresh, look no further then this True Vacuum Seal Coffee Container from Alpha Coffee.

This is great. It holds LESS than a pound of beans, but probably holds a pound of GROUND coffee. No matter; I seal up what I can, and use the rest of the beans for about three days before going into this......It's important to check the seal before pumping this up. A litttle piece of coffe, or whatever, will cause the seal to be compromised. It takes 2 seconds to make sure the gasket is clean......i like fresh coffee. This is perfect for what I need!

I was thrilled when I first got this item as the seal worked great. Recently it has been malfunctioning. Not sure if it is due to the heat we have been having or if the vacuum seal diminishes as there is more empty space (meaning as coffee gets used). Anyway, for the price, I would not purchase this again and actually would like a refund.UPDATE:Since my review above, I received a replacement -- a newer, better model. At first, the seal wasn't cooperating. However, I have been using this item now for over 6 months -- every day -- and it works great! No more malfunctions. Would definitely recommend!

I love pressed coffee, however the best comes from grinding fresh coffee beans and brewing it immediately. Much as I love coffee it can take me some time to go through a pound of it, so I needed somewhere reliable to store the whole beans. I used a standard container but the beans dry out after a couple weeks. Fortunately I saw this item on the market and am happy to say it works wonderfully! The vacuum is easy to create -- just make sure the lid is pushed down *all* the way-- and I particularly like the "date feature" on the lid. It allows you to indicate via two dials the month and the day (I would hope a year wouldn't be necessary) you filled the cannister.
