You can adjust the sensitivity of this thing by bending the curved upright bars. I had mine so close that electricity would occasionally jump the gap routinely, so I backed it off a little. I discovered that large bugs were occasionally drawn to it and would get zapped in the gap. Their bodies would then become wedged in there and cause continuous short circuits, which caused loud pops that could be heard 75 yards away. I haven't had it long enough to judge its effectiveness in a storm, but it should perform as advertised, since the physics behind it are quite simple. There doesn't seem to be anything that can wear out, and, and at the very least, fooling with it is quite entertaining.

Product installed fairly easily. Haven't had a chance to test it. Hopefully never will.

Lightning Protector we received was in different packaging. It is sold by TipperTie Fencing Systems. The packaging does not have any Country of Origin information on it.

Received item quickly. I lost 2 fence chargers in the last year due to electrical storms. Since I have installed this unit, have had no problem with lightning. It seems to work. Easy to install.

I watched a video on youtube where they showed adjusting a unit like this. If this copy isn't adjustable I bet someone with a drill can fix it so it is.

We recently lost our fence energizer, battery charge controller, solar panels, voltage converter and inverter to a lightning strike on the fence. So I decide I needed lightning protection. I am impressed with the apparent quality, so I ordered 2 more. Hopefully it will be worth the investment next time lightning strikes. Fingers crossed. Amazon Prime took longer than normal to deliver though. I guess we can blame Covid-19.
