This Whatman 7.0cm, grade 4, cellulose filter paper is used in qualitative analytical techniques to determine and identify materials. It is extremely fast filtering. It provides excellent retention of coarse particles (20-25µm) and gelatinous precipitates such as ferric hydroxide and aluminium hydroxide. It is very useful as a rapid filter for routine cleanup of biological fluids or organic extracts during analysis. This filter paper is used when high flow rates in air pollution monitoring are required and the collection of fine particles is not critical. Retention: 20-25µm. Dimensions: 7.0cm. 100/Pack. Whatman #: 1004-070.

Make an excellent cold brew coffee filter with the right apparatus and vacuum pump.
These work really well for fine filtration, use for cold brew coffee.BTW, anyone talking about buying low ash filters for more money generally has no idea what they're talking about. Low ash filters are used when analyzing the filtrate captured will require burning the sample to determine what you've captured. Low ash doesn't mean there's any less ash in the filter to "contaminate" or otherwise effect the solution drawn through the filter, it means the fibers used to make it produce essentially zero ash at the time of combustion, so they won't effect the analysis of the filtrate. There's no ash in any of them before you burn them away as part of a chemical analysis. Anyone using low ash filters to produce a solution, rather than for combustion analysis of the trapped solids, doesn't understand what the different filters are for.

Too rigid?
New user of a buchner funnel, but the filter papers seem too rigid to seal at the edges. I'll try to add a picture, but the filter paper will not lay perfectly flat in the funnel, and does not soften sufficiently to hug the outer edge.
