Star Wars Rebels: Ezra's Gamble (Disney Junior Novel (ebook))

Set before the events of the Star Wars Rebels prequel short "Property of Ezra Bridger", "Ezra's Gamble" sees Bossk arriving on Lothal to hunt down a gambler, hiring Ezra as a guide. From there, the two stumble upon a conspiracy involving the underground gladiator fights.I will admit, I did not go into this book with the best impression. I am not a fan of having every major character in franchises needing to interact with one another as it makes the universe feel smaller than it is so the fact that book's premise unites Ezra and Bossk did not sit well with me. However, I found the pairing to work, surprisingly enough.I found the characterization of Ezra in the book to vary. There are times where Ezra's voice is close to how he sounded in the show but other times it is off namely the whole Mr. Bossk deal. His actions, however, is pure Ezra. I cannot say if Bossk fits previous characterization since I have only seen him Empire Strikes Back, having never seen any of The Clone Wars episodes he was in nor read any of the Legends books he appeared.Overall, I found the book to be quite enjoyable. Ezra is, for the most part, like himself from the show and he and Bossk surprisingly work well together. The last several pages also serve as a novelization of the short "Property of Ezra Bridger", the book essentially serving as a prequel to it, showing why Ezra was doing before it.

Spoiler-free review: this book was a really fun read! I of course love Ezra, so it was fun to see a little bit of what his life was before we got to know him in the show. Also, this book is a great look into the Imperial involvement with Lothal before the show. And of course, Bossk is in this book too, creating a pretty unlikely but entertaining team-up between him and Ezra. I'd highly recommend this book as a great, quick read through a fun Star Wars Rebels adventure.

This was a pretty entertaining read. It probably could have been a 50 page short-story instead of the 170 pages it clocks in as but the team-up of Bossk and Ezra is smartly played. This one has the right feel and tone for a Rebels tie-in and is pretty smart. For a YA book, I thought it did the job well of laying out a character for Ezra with very few character pieces. Bossk feels a little sillier than he should be, but it's all in good fun. Simple but effective.

I've read just about every Star Wars book, including many of the juvenile and young adult novels. I will admit that many of the older series are better, but this one isn't so bad. Reading this novel gives you a feel as to where the "new" Star Wars universe is headed, especially the Rebels show.Without revealing any spoilers, the plot revolves around a young boy, Ezra, helping out the bounty hunter, Bossk, in hopes of getting some big reward. Because of his young age, many adults might find it hard to identify with Ezra, but I think he's perfectly suited for any kid to read about. For an adult, it is a quick, enjoyable read with a lot of action and a little mystery (I read it in an hour). For a kid, it is a good chapter book.If you aren't a Star Wars fan though, I'd say go find something else.

Good book that is prequel to the new television show STAR WARS REBELS. These events take place a few days before the events in the double episode SPARK of REBELLION, and serves as an introduction to the character Ezra Bridger as he helps BOSK, one of the bounty hunters seen on the Imperial Star Destroyer in the film THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK.

The book came in very bent and not in great condition when it was supposedly brand new. Otherwise, good book.

My 6 year old and I took turns reading this. He is in first grade and reads at a third grade level but this was a bit challenging for him. Mostly because of the odd Star Wars names for everything. The story was great, he was excited to read it every night. The first few chapters were setting up the story so some kids may find it moving too slow. My boy loves to get into the details and was ok with this part but really loved the rest.The story is about Ezra having a fun adventure with Bossk the bounty hunter. I am not sure you can get this content in another form so it was good to have the Star Wars topic but not a movie or Rebels show.

This was a super Rebels Star Wars novel. The characterisation was good, the story flowed beautifully and was really exciting. I was very reticent about Disney taking over the Star Wars franchise but so far I have been really very pleased indeed.This story is set shortly before the Rebels Animated Series takes place. Ezra is alone on the planet Lothal and is taking care of himself the only way he know's how when he comes into contact with Bossk - a powerful and efficient bounty hunter. This is the story of an adventure they end up having together.In terms of age range it says on the book 6+ but I think it's more appropriate for the top of Key Stage 2 and upwards. (That's 10 - 11 year olds.) As an adult I still enjoyed it a great deal, although, obviously, it was shorter to read than a regualr adult paperback.

Ja ich bin ein Fan von Star Wars, sowohl von den alten originalen Filmen und Comics als auch von dem neuen Hype aller Clone Wars im Anime Style. Die Geschichte des Buch ist Teil von der neuen Ablegerserien. Nett geschrieben und auch spannend. Es ist für englischsprachige Kinder zwischen 8 und 12 Jahren gedacht, also wird auf den Slang einiger anderer Star Wars Romane und lange verschachtelte Sätze verzichtet. Fans werden das Buch toll finden. Wer Star Wars mag wird das Buch mögen und sich für ein, zwei Stunden bei einer netten Geschichte entspannen.

Un libro de Star Wars decente, para los fans de Rebels (incluídos adultos, no me ha parecido un libro especialmente infantil) que tengan un buen nivel de inglés. No es una novela del nuevo canon que pasará a la historia, pero al menos no aburre mientras dura.

Charming read, a prequel to the Tv show, and enjoyable for older and younger fans alike!
