Good quality
Works great for HVAC balancing, optimization and data gathering. Bearings are good and very low friction.

Good to have and to know how much cfm going through
Worked on supply side and exhaust side to know how much you’re getting air. L” x W” = answer divided by 144 and that where you get area.

Good for comparative testing.
Easy setup and functionality. CFM readings have to be multiplied by area. It has 8 memory storage values for this if your checking multiple ac vents. Better to know duct size not just register area. Averaging is best as readings fluctuate a lot. My only complaint is the airflow direction sticker is on the inside of the blade housing. I just added one to the outside with a paint marker. Sensor cord could be a little longer and the sensor handle needs a device to attach to and extension pole. Temperature portion is reasonably accurate and very handy for checking a/c air balance in homes since only 1 tool is required. Plastic of meter and sensor feels thin and cheap but lightweight. Don't drop this thing. Storage case is barely adequate but I will be adding the tool to an instrument hard case once I decide how attach an extension handle. Overall a decent reference tool.

Unit does not work. Brand new.
The wind vein cord has a short in it. You have to wiggle the cord to get any readings from it. Once you wiggle the cord and set the unit down and DON'T move it, it seems to work fine. But as soon as you pick it up the cord looses signal.

Really happy with this
Really happy with this. Was able to balance the heating in my house to where I only have a 1 degree difference max between rooms. Prior to this, it was up to 8 degrees! Took a little practice to figure out the best way to use this. Extech Support was helpful via email. This gadget is worth the money for the comfort!

Does the job, but wind vane poorly made..
I got this Anemometer because it was affordable compared to other units that offer the same features. It comes in a nice case and looks professional. The digital handheld portion of the unit works great and feels nice, but the "wind vane" and its attached cord has aa cheap feel and is poorly made. The cord is not coiled, so its a bit awkward. After using this unit for 2 days providing me with accurate measurements, the wind vane stopped working and my screen just displayed an "OL" instead of CFM and Temp data... I think it was the poor quality cord and construction.. If Extech offers better wind vanes with coiled/flexible cords and a BNC style connector, i'll be buying their products again in the future.
