Guy de Maupassant is a great short story writer because you get the feeling that he has experienced in real life similar things to what he is writing about. There seems like there is so much truth in what he is writing because he has proven it out to himself in his own life experiences.

Guy de Maupassant Is The French.....
O. Henry or Alfred Hitchcock. Great short stories. Although reading it as an adult (the first few I read in high school), the author comes across as jaded and overly sexualized. But the stories hold up all these years later.

What is there to say? The author is terrific, and the book arrived on time and in the condition as advertised.

Not in French! This is a mediocre translation of the original.
This may be okay for those who don't know Guy de Maupassant 's work - but I was looking for the original French.This book is poorly laid out on my iPad. I didn't read much as I wanted to read it in French and soon got fed up.

Good read.
It is many years since I last read any of Maupassant's short stories - I used to have a book of 80 or so of his short stories, now lost. Although this is American English I can cope with that and am enjoying getting to know the author again. I don't know how good the translation is but the stories read as well as ever - no doubt helped by the quality of the original author. As a free download it is to be recommended and, if you like Maupassant, you will no doubt download additional volumes for your pleasure.
