Bend It Like Bullard

A refreshingly good read.
A refreshing book, rather like David Jason's autobiography because it deals with ordinary blokes who worked extremely hard to gain prominence in their fields. Too often we have the 'networking' syndrome in which so called successful people have used connections to achieve success and hailed as celebs etc. When West Ham didn't give him his break, Bullard was patient and thanked the manager, Harry Redknapp for the experience. Another lesson for us all; learn from the bad times. It's lovely to think that his rock in life is his childhood sweetheart, Diane. A lovely story for these modern times - a possible film there (a bit like 'Kes').

Batesy,s take on it all
I've read dozens of autobiographies but none as honest as this . To enjoy everyday , laugh at life and get paid must be amazing and according to JB it is and he is grateful for every moment of it . I would recommend this book to everyone, gifted , deliriously happy , insane, honest !!!! Bullards got it nailed , except the Celtic thing , playing second fiddle to the mighty Rangers may have burst his bubble , great read I hope he does another book

Funny, honest and enteraining
I enjoyed this account of JB's footballing cearer, he is honest and funny how he describes his playing days on and off the pitch. Its one of those reads that learn alot that ypu didn't know about a player and thr clubs he has had

Funny stories, but.....
I bought this as Jimmy Bullard was always seen as a character when he played football and I was interested in his time at Hull City, my local club. Jimmy comes across as a lovely bloke, but with a streak of madness in him. I do find it disappointing to read of so many footballers, talking about the times the drank themselves silly, etc but still made training....
