Loose pack in bubble mailer, 2021 harvest is NOT fresh.... package was wet inside
I would NOT have ordered if I had noticed the line that says "From the 2021 harvest season". 2 year old nuts ARE NOT FRESH, not even if stored in a vacuum packed container in a freezer till shipped. They also did NOT come in a mesh bag(as claimed in listing), they were loose packed in a bubble mailer which had water drops on the inside of the mailer and on the nuts. That being said, in my bubble mailer I found: > large chestnuts with most being larger than walnuts in their shell. > noticeably bad chestnuts = 10 total: 1 with a hole, 3 with cracked skins, 3 that have started to sprout, and 3 that floated. I air-fried a small batch of 18 (to make some chestnut icing): Almost all of those have semi-translucent greyish, brownish, blueish, or purplish streaks inside the nutmeat. After cooling most of the streaks changed to some shade of brown. Only 2 of the nuts look edible after roasting. However, I do not detect any foul, rancid, or bad smell from the roasted nuts.

Chestnuts.
Got here on time, nice sized smaller and more tender. Only issue was that close to a out a third of them had mold growing on them. Wasn't sure if it would cause a consumption problem with them. So threw them away and washed the remainder that were left. That being said they are good and I am enjoying the rest of them. Too bad I lost a third of them though.

Not fresh, the skin was fuzzy and more bitter than usual.
The Chestnuts were mostly soft and very hard to get the skin off. I had to score and heat the chestnuts to get the skin off. I usually don't ever heat my chestnuts but the skin was so fuzzy and bitter that I just couldn't eat them raw.

Rotten
All the nuts were moldy and rotten. Not edible at all!! If I could rate it a minus 1 for quality I would.

Nice size, easy to score and roast
Never had chestnuts before so I decided to try them. Followed google instructions on how to roast them, and a friend said they came out perfectly. However, I discovered that I don’t like chestnuts. So, giving 5 stars cause my friend loved them. 😁

They are perfect for planting
They are exactly as described. I bought them to try and plant them, and the germinated! So they are definitely organic, fresh and raw. You do have to let them sit over winter but it’s worth the wait!
