A good light for every day carry especially when I need something really bright to see what that noise was in the backyard.
I've had this flashlight for about 3 or 4 weeks now and have been carrying it almost daily, so I thought I would write a review. The Thorfire VG15S Flashlight came with a lanyard with a clip on the end, instruction manual, pocket clip and spare O-rings. Everything was well protected and arrived without damage. This flashlight came without a battery or charger. I use a protected button top Keeppower 3200mAh 18650 battery as well as a slightly lower capacity flat top 18650 battery in it. No problem using either flat top or button top 18650 batteries. It has a spring on both the tail cap end, as well as the driver end of the light. I am able to lock out the light to off by unscrewing the head from the body slightly to avoid accidentally turning it on.. No flickers or other contact problems while I use it. The tube has nice, well cut anodized threads. It screws together smoothly and seals nicely with the installed and lubricated O-rings. It claims an IPX8 rating which should make it waterproof to 2 meters depth. I did get it wet in the rain with no issues and it probably would be OK to 2 meters underwater. It appears to seal well. The Cree XML2 LED Emitter is well centered in an orange peel reflector, topped off by a stainless steel bezel. The flashlight is operated by a tail switch and has 5 modes plus a hidden strobe mode.OPERATION: To turn the light on you click the tail switch fully. To change modes, lightly depress the tail switch to cycle through them.To access the hidden strobe mode, quickly double tap the tail switch lightly. There is a very slight pause when switching modes. The light does have Mode Memory, so if you turn it off on firefly/moonlight or another mode setting it will be on the last used mode when you turn it on the next time except strobe (thankfully) I don't mind this function in a light, but it bothers some folks. I like to leave lights with mode memory on low or moonlight mode when I turn them off so I wont get blinded worse than I already am and this light is very bright on turbo.ANODIZING: The anodizing is pretty nice with some knurling on the body and tail cap to provide a nice grip. Smooth and flawless before I started carrying it, and it remains so after quite a few drops and hard knocks.POCKET CLIP:It has a nice chrome finish pocket clip that gives a firm secure pocket carry without fear of losing it.I frequently carry a flashlight in my front pants pocket or a side leg pocket. This light leaves a little bit more sticking out than some of the others I carry due to the location of pocket clip being farther away from the tail cap. It does not carry as deep as other lights I own, but the added length really isn't an issue for me.TAIL STANDING:The flashlight will tail stand with the lanyard attached, but it can get in the way of this when attached. The clip on the lanyard is a bit different than I'm used to. I don't think I will keep it on there, I will probably remove it and replace it with a loop of heavy fishing trot-line or some paracord.BRIGHTNESS:The Thorfire VG15S is pretty bright on higher modes and turbo even in daylight. It has a cool neutral tint, but not too cool or blueish like you would find in a lower quality light. There are many flashlights on the market that claim to have a zillion lumens and massive light output that just do not come anywhere close to the claimed brightness. When using a quality 18650 battery this flashlight puts out what is claimed. I measured above 1070 lumen on Turbo using an android lux meter app and a homemade integration box. It throws the beam pretty well for its size and has some flood too. The light does have a timed step down to High mode from Turbo after 3 minutes to protect from excessive heating, and it does get pretty warm on Turbo. I like the moonlight mode for not being too bright and ruining your night vision for when I drop stuff in the car and need to find it. Overall I am pretty happy with it and I like the light and feel that it's an excellent value for the features. I own flashlights that cost triple what this one does with fewer features, less run time, less output, and fewer modes. It's a pretty good light for every day carry especially when I need some really bright output with enough throw and a hot spot to see what that noise was in the backyard at night.

The best EDC light I've used so far... maybe not the best defense light tho
Absolutely love this flashlight! It's awesome! The beam is super powerful and it actually does travel a very long distance (160m+). However if you're looking for a self defense option, this mayyyyyy not be the best option. It's certainly bright no doubt about it and it definitely is nice and small perfect for EDC. But the middle area is nowheres near as powerful as say he Thorfire C8S. THAT beam is literally blinding at over 30yrds away. However that bell shape of the C8S just isn't conducive for EDC/Self defense. It will blind someone but on full power hey need to be about 3-6yrds away. Vs the C8S which I've clocked at about 20-30yrds. Now there are other options on Amazon however I think for the price this thing rocks. It does get hot but if you onlykeep it on for like a minute max, then thing istruly powerful as hell. Even the lowers modes are nice and bright and easy on the eyes in dark conditions. Just wish I could get the beam of the C8S in a body design like this. THAT would be awesome. And I wish this had a retention ring with a paddle instead of a squishy button. It'd be nice to have it blink on by just tapping the power button but not fully depressing it and staying on till youlet go of the half drepressed button. But alas even without those features this makes a kickass little light for the money. 5 stars for sure

Awesome powerful bright VG15S, definitely value for money!
So I recently acquired this VG15s in the mail which was honestly very fast given that I am based here in the Philippines, the package arrived in just 5 days of ordering! The packaging is very simple yet robust, no fuss, it kept the light secured through transport. The light is impressive and bright with the 5 modes you can access via half-clicking the switch when on, it has which is true firefly mode that gives out 0.5 lumens, low at 50 lumens, mid at 200 lumens, high at 600 lumens, and turbo at 1070 lumens, and also it has strobe by double half-clicking the switch. It has a 3 minute step down timer on turbo which is very impressive because this light gets quite hot so this is a really awesome feature to have.Overall, a well designed, little edc light that packs a punch. A spectacular firefly mode, a couple of intermediary modes, then a powerful bright turbo.I would highly recommend this light for a general edc light. I am extremely happy with it and must say it has an excellent value for money for the brightness and performance it offers. Another great light by Thorfire!Below are some creative shots of the light and beam shots on the different modes ^^Please check helpful if this review helped you in any way. Thank you so much c=

Very disappointing...
Very disappointed by this one. Ended up returning it the next day.You have to be real clever to operate the multi fonctions of the unique switch at the back.Too frustrating, really. Also, there is no zoom.
