This is a heavy, sturdy bird feeder. After a few months out in the Florida sun it has yet to show any real degradation, which is actually a bit surprising because generally speaking, nothing is immune to the ravages of the heat and weather here.It's easy to remove the tray to dump and refill; usually a small amount of leftover seed ands up getting wedged between the feeder and the tray in the corners, so every so often I take it down and hose it off for a few seconds before putting it back. Larger birds (grackles, mourning doves) tend to prefer the open tray feeder to this one, but they will happily use it if the tray feeder is empty for some reason. Smaller birds like cardinals seem to use both feeders about equally.

The feeder is heavy duty and really bright yellow. I bought this in large part because of the removable feeder tray which intrigued me. I have lately been looking for feeders with an eye toward how easy they are to clean and refill on those freezing cold, snowy and windy days of a Midwest winter where you don't even want to get out of bed let alone bundle up and trudge through the snow to fill bird feeders.PRO'S:--Showy, cheerful bright color--Roof is nice and large, overhanging the feeder tray so that it keeps seeds dry.--Doves don't use it (I think because of the extended roof) even though it's only hanging about a foot off the ground.--Removable metal screen feeder tray makes it simple to dump out empty shells.--Cutout handle make it easy to pull out the tray; good feature--Nice medium size bird feeder, looks larger than it is due to oversized roof--check measurements to make sure it's what you expect.--Sturdy and heavy frame. Swings very little on windy days. A squirrel can hang from one end trying to get in and it hardly tips.CON'S:--Small seeds(sunflower), pieces of nuts and shells get stuck under the removable basket and against the under sides. If weather is hot and damp mold can form underneath the basket and in winter the little pieces accumulate and are really hard to get out of there. Also in winter if get freezing rain or blowing wet snow that freezes, all the seeds and snow freeze in the basket and you have to bang it hard against something or take it inside to defrost it. UPDATE: 9/1/2019 This is the biggest CON and the reason we don't use this anymore. Too much work.--Of all my feeders, birds choose this feeder last. (May be the wide edges or perhaps it's mounted too low--I'm going to move it to see) In comparison, my $15  Perky-Pet Copper Panorama Bird Feeder 312C  buzzes with birds (finches, cardinals, sparrows, woodpeckers) that fight for seating.--Squirrels love it; keeps them dry and has comfortable, stable seating area. I don't really mind.--Expensive for the little use it's getting so far.If it's raining or snowing, it keeps seed dry.

This is a wonderful platform feeder. It is very nice to have a removable tray to fill and clean. My birds were eating out of it in seconds. Now waiting to see if it helps me attract and keep cardinals!

Very sturdy product arrived promptly

The feeder attracts a variety of wildlife. Love looking out the window to enjoy the view.It is very well put together. We hung it on a metal L bracket and it is able to hold a bear cubs weight. The racoons accidently ate some of the corners of the feeder tray. Hopefully down the road I can order a replacement tray. I use the tray daily to refill the ration of food for all the animals for the day. Cardinals, Bluejays, woodpeckers, nuthatches, titmouse, Brown Thrashers, Grackels, squirrels, racoons and bears are some of the many visitors.

This open bird feeder is quality made, the removable tray is a plus. This type of feeder will allow air flow to prevent mold and bacteria to grow which is harmful to birds.
