Wang Sun-Dried Fine Gochugaru

This has added flavor to this amateur cook’s oriental stir-fry pasta dishes. Interstinngly, combining it with mayonnaise, a flavorful dip results. To my Mexican taste buds, this is in the middle range of heat, I.e. very tasty.

I bought this gochugaru because I wanted to start making more Korean-inspired dishes at home, and let me just say… this stuff is dangerously good. The color alone should’ve warned me. The flakes are this beautiful deep red that instantly makes food look restaurant-quality. I added some to homemade kimchi fried rice and soup, confidently thinking, “I’ll just sprinkle a little extra for flavor.” Reader, I underestimated the pepper. About halfway through dinner I was sweating, my wife was laughing at me, and I was simultaneously suffering and continuing to eat because the flavor was so good. What I really like about this gochugaru is that it’s not just “spicy for the sake of pain.” It has that slightly smoky, rich pepper flavor that adds depth to dishes instead of overwhelming them. I’ve used it for: * Kimchi fried rice * Tteokbokki sauce * Marinades * Ramen upgrades * Soups and stews * Even eggs and roasted vegetables The flakes also feel fresh and high quality — not dusty or stale like some cheaper chili powders. The resealable packaging is helpful too because once you start using it, you’ll probably reach for it constantly. If you enjoy Korean cooking or just want a flavorful chili pepper that actually enhances food instead of just attacking your taste buds, this is fantastic. Just maybe don’t get overconfident with the “one extra spoonful.” 🌶️🔥

It's a red pepper so it's gonna be spicy!! Not much to say about it. The product arrived in good order, the grind size of the pepper is just right for my needs. The source is free flowing, no clumps or moisture issues. The flavor is spot on for what this product is and I use it all the time in my Korean noodles. I'm a wuss though, so I use a 1/4 of the amount that any of my recipes call for because I can only handle gentle heat. 😄 This should last me forever, but should I actually run out, I will definitely order it again.
