Can the middle slot be blocked so the food will go between the far two slots or will this cause a jam? Have 2 cats now, but anticipate a 3rd soon.

I don't think that would work out well. Food could possibly get stuck or pile up and I could see it causing issues. You could just put a third bowl there and let your two cats eat freely from all three. I think they offer a two way splitter if you wanted to buy that in the meantime. I can say though that this 3 way splitter is awesome and it fits the smart feeder perfectly. It's been amazing for our three cats so far.

does it stay in place better than the 2-bowl splitter made by the OEM???

From the pictures it appears the splitter may be plastic, if so is it bpa, bps and phthalate free?

Will this feed 3 adult cats for 10 days without me having to refill the dispenser? I typically feed my cats twice a day.

I assume you are talking about the feeder itself and not the diverter? If you have the Petsafe Smart Feeder it has a capacity of 24 cups of food. So in theory you could dispense 2.4 cups of food over the course of 10 days. This sounds like more than enough for three cats if I had to guess your three cats would eat less than that of which you can adjust the amount and times on the feeder.
