Deserves a second look beyond, "expensive," though technically shouldn't be required
Jan 15 editI sent the AMZ a new review. Guess I forgot it. I'll send it again and hope I remember. So I had this cable for just about a year now. Still works the same. My cable sits in the hot Florida sun so the little cute removable Chinese tag that says "FOR CHARGING ONLY" is faded. Another reviewer noted this cable killed his Veho MUVI. I don't know. QC error? Though this cable only works with certain types and depending on your USB power (2.1 A versus 1 A, some cheap PRC cig lighter power devices are poorly constructed), I can't say I ever had a problem. Sorry other guy.But yeah. It still works. My MUVI HD still gets the promised 3 hours. Heck, the longest run I had with the cable was a 21 hour drive to BronyCon with the HD10 in one button press. The memory card only held ~14 hours at my res though. No problems here. I bought another cable used condition for the money recently but the USB clamp was partially deformed so I had to fix it with a screwdriver. My new cable, er, the cable that came in recently works though the USB side is quiet stiff. No big deal as I ran a USB extension cord word Princess Celestia knows how many feet around my car floor and to the doors for a rather impressive wiring setup so I don't have this insane cable protruding awkwardly all the way up my dashboard and I can toss the cable to stay plugged in that car and proceed to use the other cable for camera events.Oh, and to the Veho MUVI K2 owners (I wrote a review on that, read if you'd like, HD10 owners), this cable will work with the K2Yeah? Go buy this cable. I also recommend a power bank to use as an extended battery or to charge your phone so you're not a casual sitting in the corner of the room next to the outlet. If puny lipstick sized banks aren't you're style, look up PowerAdd Pilot X3*. At ~10K mAh I got 12 hours with the HD10 in a home test. 12 hours. Oh, and that was just the PowerAdd. Internal battery full so go another 3 hours, 15 hours. 15 hours, Celestia why? Who can afford a GPU that can render 15 hours of video in a decent amount of time? Not this guy.*This review is not sponsored by PowerAdd. Oh if only though.Simpleton's Amazon review:It works just as advertised. Thanks. Words words words words words words words words words words.Practical Amazon review:Just to note, as a civilian (the following review will make me sound like an L.E.O. which I am not) I use this with the Veho Muvi HD-10 NPNG edition, especially on my car as a dashboard camera, running 960p (for maximum vertical resolution) with aux USB power (aka cigarette lighter), belt/lapel clip attached on the glare shield/passenger mirror for easy removal, time stamp enabled for civil courtroom purposes/insurance reference.Yes, as first glance (especially when explaining it to other friends) it resembles a standard USB Mini B cable, which you can get plenty of those for a third of the price (AmazonBasics for ~$5.50), or, if you bought the camera package, Veho may have supplied you a generic Mini B cable (and adapter, though I lost mine somewhere but not a loss) for transferring files and obviously charging the camera, but you can not record and charge at the same time. Powering up the device while connected with this (and arguably many other cables) will always set the device into transfer mode.Obviously for purposes of this review, this "expensive" cable, and whatever generic black magic that's beyond me, allows you to both, charge the camera and record video (or do time lapse photos if needed), at the same time. Do not attempt to transfer files with this cable as you will be disappointed. However, allow me to be first to say if you value getting road footage for insurance protection or if you're an L.E.O. who needs not to worry about battery power on the road, think about it, and then get the darn $15 cable and a car aux to USB adapter. Not only will this allow you to record until the maximum allowed mini SD card (32 GB) in one click to 4 hours (that's in 1080p at 16 Mbps, if you're doing anything in 960p or 720p or below which would realize even more recording footage, prepare to have enough road footage to make a movie..even if sped up), if you get hit by another civilian (most likely) or you're an L.E.O. or P.M.C. who for legal purposes makes the decision to record engagements and activities outside of a vehicle, assuming the camera is fully charged which it should be at this point, you can already record for up to the normal battery life of 3 hours, away from the car, which I'd say is impressive and long enough for most people. One compliant from a 5 star review, though miniscule my review would be one sided without. As I said, technically it shouldn't be required. I don't know how to engineer products but what I do know is my other USB Mini B device, a digital recorder, has a menu upon being plugged in and turned on, "bus power or mass storage?" Obviously this means with any USB Mini B cable I can choose upon start up if I want to transfer files or record while on power. While transferring files (on a good day with no incident and loop record on) only occurs once a week or two, the need for bus power (and charging) occurs every day (I mentioned I use this everyday, in a car, yes?). If Veho wanted to go the extra mile, they would program the following: when the MUVI is plugged with any USB power (ideally any generic cable, which would make use this specialized one obsolete), it would be default draw power, recharge, and be able to record, but in the menu/settings there would be an option to switch the MUVI to mass storage mode which would then allow you to retrieve your files, and then when you're done you turn off the device and proceed on your way. Obviously my following recommendation for Veho would take effort to program and cost them the revenues of selling said specialized USB cable in question, as they are a company with needs too. With the new K-Series camcorder line coming out soon (hopefully to us in the states) and set to impress hardcore GoPro users with its 1080p60, 32Mbps, and wifi, we shall see about that. That and if they fixed the potentially audio not recording issue, though by listening for a recording beep it's not too bad.Basically, if you don't want to worry about battery life while in a car, ever, get the cable and leave it in your car (or your primary car, Mitt Romney humor, heh). Also, it should be long enough to connect from the oddest of aux powers to whatever you mount your camera.Questions?---Other purchase recommendations32 GB mini SD card. Preferably SanDisk versus other odd China brands as they are probably to be the most "official" and most compatible SD card you can find. If your Veho MUVI came with an 8GB card, throw that on your phone if you haven't a phone memory card yet, so you'll never be out of memory in case you completely deplete 32 GB and suddenly something fascinating occurs and you need x hours or so to keep going. f/8 and be there. Or buy two cards.Mini SD to SD card adapter. Buy one and leave it in your car. Why? If you get hit (auto collision), your local police department or sheriff's office will appreciate an immediate copy of the video. This is not the time for you overly peace loving (implied), tofu eating, guitar playing, long haired anti-government hippies to be like, "Urrr popo are doughnut eating pigs and always putting a brother down. Fight the power!" and start showing off what you think of The Man, in front of Him. Thankfully most L.E.O.s (if not, all of them) have laptops with SD card readers built right in. Name three L.E.O. grade laptops that have internal mini SD card readers. If you just did, you may be some high tier 1% computer science person with your logic and advanced math and BASIC and C++ and Lua and Ruby and Python and uses open source programs like Linux, you get the point. Also most of this portion has been sarcastic so I apologize if you're offended. Actually, I'm not sorry. Though my goal isn't some lazy, "I think what I am and if you don't like it you can go home," I find this hilarious and if you don't, well, it's a shame. Laugh some more, no? My point is, your local L.E.O. will appreciate you having an SD card adapter so they or the supervisor in their mobile office in an Ford Explorer get the files off the Muvi at the time of writing the report because the other option to keep the mini SD card (or USB drive if you want to give that to them to keep) is visiting some officer or sheriff to deliver the files, or have them visit you. At home. Eh, effort. Not only that, but if you're with two high tier guys with a film degree and a GoPro Hero 3 and you drive them ~100 miles in a day for free (in these gas prices), there's a chance one of them will forget his adapter/cable and need help transferring gigabytes of files from his high tier GoPro to their laptop so you can waltz in with a mini SD to SD card adapter, save the day, and earn your theoretical pay. Based off a true story. And P.S., I'm not in art school.RAM Mounting Systems RAM-B-166-202AU, suction cup mount with 1/4 inch 20 thread and plate for cameras. I wrote a fantastic and equally lengthy review on the RAM Mount (see the review on my profile for more details). For $35 it seemed like much for a suction cup mount to mount cameras on your windshield. I go into more detail there on why you need to stop crying, save money, and buy the RAM Mount but here's what you need to know: if it can hold a ~4 lb +~$300 (at the time) DSLR on the outside of a moving vehicle in slightly wet (not downpour though) conditions while going ~45 MPH*, it can definitely hold your puny action cameras inside of your car (*disclaimer, has to be mounted properly on a dry and completely flat, I mean it, flat surface, do not attempt this at home, or anywhere for Princess Celestia' sake, and do not come to me and cry if you break your camera in an attempt to replicate this). After a TV interview with a local news station, it had to be the most effective $35 I spent.Veho Muvi HD waterproof case. Chances are you already have one by now, but obviously if you're doing any sports stuff, you'll want one. And a headband strap/rubber helmet mount strap whatever. Which for Veho's sake I won't discuss further. Heh.A rechargeable USB based power bank. This will be my next related purchase. A ~8000 mAh power bank that supplies USB power (we discussed this) will allow you to extend your recording life to...Wow. Much power. So video. Many footage. Such HD. Plenty action. Wow. Oh, and when your lousy friends start whining, "Oh my phone's dead," (do phones die? No. Agagagaga) you can save their sorry flank and earn your pay. A must have for those out in the middle of no where doing hunting/hiking videos. Pack a couple of cards, a power bank, headstrap, and maybe another Veho MUVI, and you'll never miss a moment for the rest of the day.Any more questions?

Works as Advertised
It works as advertised. It's a cable. What else can I say about it. I bought this as a replacement for my Veho HD video camera car charger.

A must have Accessory
This cable allows you to record/charge with an external battery. Can't be done with the stock cable that comes with the camera.Works great.

Works as advertised
Good cable, I just wish it came in a longer length.I originally thought there was a problem with it and the seller was going to refund with no hassles, I then found out that it was MY error and there was nothing wrong with this cable.

Disgruntled Customer!!!
I bought this cable over a year ago and failed to notice the tag on the cable which says, "for charging only". The package says it's for charging and recording. Someone somewhere should make up their mind which it is. I recently tried to use it for the first time and ruined my camera. It will no longer hold a charge and now I'm trying to find out how to send it in for repairs.

Works as advertised - Able to record and charge at the same time
As it's described, this cable will allow you to record while charging your Muvi. Standard USB cables won't allow you to do this, so this is the cable you need if that's what you're trying to do.

meh...works but...
It's some rare USB cord nothing new. Just wish Veho's customer service wasn't so HORRIBLE. Do yourself a favor get a product that the company will stand behind. Should've went with the cheapest GoPro.

Perfect
This usb cable has been a blessing, I commute everyday more than 140 miles to and from work and I never have to worry about my Muvi cam. every being low on charge.

Fantastic accessory
This cable is needed if you want to use your Muvi HD camera in the car or whilst it is being charged/powered. A normal USB cable won't allow this as it puts the camera into 'download' mode - this cable has one or more cables removed which permits it's use to power the camera without affecting it's operation. Well worth the price for the extended versatility this accessory brings. Highly recommended.

Does exactly as required, for permanent power whilst recording this is the cable you need!
This item is great for the purpose it is designed for. When plugged in to my USB Hub on my motorcycle it allows me to permanently record in case of an accident occurring. I just set the camera on a loop record and away I go.The cable is long enough for my requirements, was very cheap and appears to be well made.A five star product.

Does what it says on the tin!
I thought that getting anymore than 4 hours of use out of my Veho Muvi HD was going to be impossible, until I came across this. When used with a external usb power device, you are now only limited by the amount of external power you can carry and the size of your memory card.Expensive for a cable, but does what it exactly needs to do.

It Works - How simple do you want?
I found that the cable is labelled as suitable for charging only but it does permit the camera to record while receiving a charge. This makes the whole system better for remote viewing.Thank you

Does what it says on the tin.
It's a USB cable that charges the Veho MUVI while it records. It works. There's not much more that needs to be said.
