Rugged Radios H80 Linkable Behind-the-Head Headset 2-Pack

Paired 3 of these up with 3 Uniden Bearcat BC125AT scanners and the setup works great for listening to the broadcast or spotters/drivers at a Nascar race. We had three of them linked together and the setup was flawless. With separate scanners each person can listen to their driver or the general MRN broadcast. But you could be linked to one scanner, with the headset selected to “ALL” so all headsets can hear one scanner, volume is a little low but they seal up good so hearing is not a problem.

My husband and I went to the Daytona 500 this year. We wanted to be able to talk to each other during the race, and didn't want to spend the same money on renting headsets. These were PERFECT. You can still hear the engines, but the headsets muffle enough of the harmful noise were it makes the race enjoyable. The microphones work best when they are right up to your mouth, but you don't have to raise your voice in order to hear each other. The only time you get feedback is when the cars are right next you, lol. My only criticism is I wish the headsets came with a case! You spend all this money on them and you want to travel and keep them in good shape. With a bit of searching we did find a case that could fit the size of them. Can't wait to bring the to our next race!

Excellent for open car. Driver and passenger can hold a conversation. Does rub on the ears. Comfortable for 1 hour. Than need a break. Does well in cancelling outside noise but can hear emergency vehicles

We went to the bristol race. It is so loud without the headphones!! Being able to communicate was awesome.

I am endeavoring to write the review I wish I would have found before buying this product. If you do your research and are planning to use this at NASCAR races then you are trying to decide between the Racing Electronics Gemini 5 and the Rugged Radios H80. Last year we used the RE-58 Platinum headphones during two races with an RE3000 scanner. We really enjoyed them, but wanted a way to communicate during the race. As I was doing research the H80 has a 24 dB NRR rating. I reaching out to RE and they confirmed the Gemini 5 does not have a NRR due to the battery compartment being inside the headset. My only real complaint about the H80 is the battery being mounted on the outside doesn’t seem like a great design, but it’s a trade off I am more than happy to make for the increased NRR. This ended up being the deciding factor for me as the RE-58 have a NRR of 25 dB and the sound of our scanner would get drowned out during restarts and we did not want to exacerbate that problem. We took our new H80 headsets to the May 2022 race at Kansas Speedway and we were beyond pleased. We felt the H80 blocked sound better than the RE-58 despite the rating difference. I was shocked to find that I could actually turn our RE3000 scanner up too loud which was a problem I never had with the RE-58. The intercom is wonderful, but you can’t talk when a group of cars is directly in front of you. However, I don’t believe that is a problem that can be solved regardless of the headset. The H80 microphone feels very durable which was a concern for me. I have not personally tried the Gemini 5, but the microphone boom does look more durable than the H80. The only issue we encountered is I accidentally flipped the ISO switch on my headset and it took us several minutes to figure out why my wife could not hear the scanner. The H80 comes in at a lower price point than the Gemini 5 and I would recommend it to anyone who asks. I feel confident these will be our trusty race companion for years to come. We have two more NASCAR races this year as well as the Knoxville Nationals so I will update this review if our feelings change or we encounter any issues.
