Effective chopper but harder to use than other designs
Same basic design as other choppers but with some key differences. We had a Salsa Master for about 15 years and an Oxo for about 4 years. I was hoping to find something with a similar design to the Salsa Master but this one has some shortcomings that will make me go back to the Oxo. The bowl is quite small. I use it mainly for guacamole and three small avocados will completely fill it up. It is not very stable while using it. The best thing about the Oxo design was the suction bottom that held it tight to the counter. This design does not have anything like that so you have to use your own force to hold it while you crank the handle, which is quite stiff to turn. That was the same design as the Salsa Master but the key difference here is the lid. First it does not seem to lock in place, which meant I was fighting it constantly to keep the lid on. There is also no nice place to put your hand on the lid while you crank the handle. There is a hole in the lid, I assume to be able to pour ingredients through while you are churning. At any rate, it is uncomfortable to use. Ultimately, for me, it was impossible to hold the chopper firmly and turn the handle and not loosen the lid.The chopping capability was quite good. The blades appear to be very sharp and I was eventually able to get pretty smooth avocado for my guacamole, but it was not worth the effort for me. The design of the Salsa Master has changed over the years and it is very similar to this design now, so I will be going back to the Oxo.

Makes GREAT fresh salsa
VERY sharp blades. Comes with a salad leaf spinner insert, mixer and egg white separator. This device makes GREAT salsa. Fill to the top with whole or sliced small round reds or pear shaped yellow tomatoes. Add (2) 1/8" thick sliced white or red onion sliced that are chopped, two thinly sliced garlic cloves, one med sized jalapeno, stuff cilantro leaves to the lip edge.... tighten lid, turn the crank for a forearm workout and BAM! Grab the chips and start the party. Salsa is best if it sits over night in the fridge. Enjoy. This is a great salsa maker.

Still looking for a great salsa maker
I had a salsa maker that received much use. First one of the plastic gear teeth broke from not having the tomatoes chopped small enough. I kept using it until the handle pylon failed due to fatigue loads. The handle pylon to top mold area should be designed with a much larger radius to reduce fatigue failures. This salsa maker is much smaller than my previous one (about half the capability). It also has a hole only about .38" diameter, though the photo indicates it to be much larger. This is next to useless since you must remove the top to put any non-liquid ingredients in (what a pain). I also feel that over time the pylon will succumb to fatigue stresses since the design is the same as my last one. The two speed feature is nice and the blades are very sharp, but the instruction manual says not to chop hard foods, such as nuts. It's a good thing I have an electric food processor since this one will not do it well.Overall it is a nice salsa maker, but I could design a better one that would perform better and last longer.

My second one!
This thing is amazing. I had another one but lost the handle somewhere. This is an excellent replacement. Works great for onions! No tears!!

Good For The Price
If you are looking for an inexpensive manual food processor this is for you. Being manual you need a little bit of muscle to start but in the end it will not disappoint.
