great design, robust construction, killed by its (utter lack) of tech/security/support.
This item has several things going for it - mechanically speaking I would have given 4 stars. The feed chute is elevated over the bowl for one, helping to prevent the tendency of similar units to become obstructed because the food won't slide forward under gravity. The construction is solid and has a quality feel. The hopper is large and the feed paddles seem fairly robust. Overall, it seems like a very good unit. However, I cannot go as far as recommending this product to anyone who is not at least casually tech savvy and who knows what she or he will be getting themselves into. Your grandma is probably never going to successfully configure this device, and, without a network connection to communicate with the control app, it is completely useless as there are no onboard controls except one manual feed button. First, forget the instructions, they are mildly helpful at best and suffer from glaring translation issues. (As does the online FAQ/help forum) For example, the unit completely failed to dispense any food, or even try, at the first scheduled feeding. I finally fumbled my way into a section of the app that indicated there was no food to dispense. So, I went on their self help forum and searched for "failed to dispense" and got such helpful advise as "there is an infrared sensor" (what? Where? How is it configured? how does it work? what does that even mean?") and "check if the food hopper is empty" (duh). Turns out, the key (discovered by accident) is to manually initiate the first round, I guess, because it has worked since then. So, don't buy this with any anticipation of any sort of reliable or helpful after sale support. What little there is takes a heathy dose of troubleshooting skills, and some experience with deciphering the inconsistencies of poorly translated instructions. Reminds me of the owners manual to a motorized recreational vehicle I once owned that read "if noise unusual is observed under hood please check there is a thing may be caught in the v-belt". just know that you are dealing (not judging here - and certainly not suggesting this is good, bad, or indifferent, just IS) with a 100% Chinese company based 100% in China and adjust your expectations accordingly. Pay a visit to petwant.com before you purchase. The most egregious problem with this device is the complete lack of security. First, one has to create an account on their site, on a server they control but the password requirements cannot exceed 12 characters and cannot contain any special characters. Letters and numbers only. This has long been considered to be easily crackable and not secure. Most maddening however is the registered email address ALSO cannot contain any special characters. I have an address that I share with my wife for all home IOT related devices that are shared, but, I could not use it for this scenario, as it contains the horrible, frightening, non-standard HYPHEN *gasp* and is therefore, not allowed. Moving on, to join this to your home network, you must first join your device (iPhone, android phone, tablet, whatever) to the feeder, which broadcasts its own SSID, with no password, no encryption, and no idea what so ever how it is configured or what it is doing. You are giving this thing FULL access to your device at this point! Okay, so, once that is done, you then re-join your home wi-fi network and PRESTO (or not) the unit is somehow connected to the internet, and accessible via the application. This includes LIVE VIDEO and LIVE AUDIO. What ever shenanigans this thing is pulling off behind the scenes should scare the $#!& out of anyone with even a passing familiarity of the recent IOT bot net debacle. Not to mention pure privacy concerns this raises. So, this device very nearly went back in the box and returned for that alone, but I pressed on none-the-less. Now, as one layer of security on my home wi-fi, I also employ assigned addresses and MAC filtering. NOWHERE on the device, nor in the literature that I can find is the device ID or MAC address information. Fortunately, I was able to fire up a sniffer and deduce the information from that. I have also segregated this device off onto a guest network so it does not have access to my internal network, and I will be covering the camera and microphone. I am still not sure whether or not this is a keeper, will review traffic logs after few days to see where, how, and how much this thing is squaking. Anyway, good luck getting grandpa to figure that out and realize the danger of just giving this thing carte blanch to your internal network. And so, I can ONLY recommend this product over others due to its quality of construction and well considered design, and ONLY to those who are tech savvy, or who have access to such support, that can assist you if needed.

Works well, has a camera and voice recording, no food stuck, battery backup
I've been using this for almost two weeks now and it works as described. I had no issues so far. It has advanced features such as a camera and voice recording to call your pets to eat. I highly recommend it for those of you who are looking for a connected, smart feeder. I previously owned the petnet smart feeder, which was absolutely terrible as a feeder. This was a similar price but with more advanced features and works well as a feeder, which is its primary function.Update: At three weeks it still works just as well. It was easy to configure and operate. I haven't cleaned it yet.Update: After a month it still works perfectly and I haven't cleaned it yet. I intend to clean it between refills. I even went on a trip abroad and had no issues. I could check what was going on with the feeder and with the webcam.

This feeder is easy to install and the app to control it is ...
This feeder is easy to install and the app to control it is really user friendly. Also, the feeding dish can be easily removed what makes the cleaning a piece of cake. This feeder saves your time and also helps you to get the exact feeding portion every time. What I really found useful is that you can set the portions within one serving to be provided at given intervals what prevents your pet from eating too quickly. Our pup used to devour his food in few seconds (definitely not healthy) but now with this automatic feeder his pace is much slower. I really appreciate this. The only minor disadvantage is the size of the individual serving – you can feed only 100 g at a time. Since we have a larger dog this is not enough and as such, we have to feed him an additional manual serving. Nevertheless, this is done through the app very easily so that’s not an issue. Another plus is that the feeder has an in-built camera so you can use it to monitor your pet and there is a speaker so you can talk to the pet or listen to him/her while you are outside your home. Unfortunately, these functions are not available at the same time - you can either use the camera or the speaker – so you have to switch between them if you want to use both. Overall, I have a very positive experience with this feeder and would recommend it.

Amazing product! Your pet will love it!
Great price and product. Sturdy build, and it has the same functions as higher-priced feeders that cost 200 dollars and above. High definiton camera, microphone and speakers makes it much more than just a feeder - very interactive product. You can actually train your dog or with this interactive machine. Highly recommend. Owners and pets will love it!

useful funcionalities
What I like about this feeder are its multiple functionalities. Feeder is equipped with camera so you can monitor your dog on your phone from other places and at the same time talk to your dog and listen to his responses. I could even make my dog sit and give him little treat with manual feeding function right after. Very useful product.

This is the best product ever. I have not had an issue other than in the building where I work with the app. I have to move closer to a window to get it to work. I have been able to talk, feed, take pictures and take videos of my cat.
