Deep cleanings cost about $1000. Proxabrushes make deep cleanings unnecessary.
How much does a deep cleaning cost? Around here, close to $1000. Near where my bro lives close to $2000. Not too many insurance policies cover deep cleaning. My dentist had me scheduled for a deep cleaning every year. And what do the proxabrushes do for me? They work so well removing plaque that I no longer need deep cleanings. Why didn't I know about this sooner? Apparently, many people are sensitive to the proxabrushes, it's painful to use so dentists tend to avoid mentioning them. I used to be very sensitive. What happened? I got older. My gums receded. Now, there is plenty of room for a proxabrush. I've only got one gap that is too narrow for even the smallest brush. So, I just floss it. That's the one my hygienist has to clean extra. The rest? Cleaning is a snap for everyone, me, the hygienist, my wallet....If you want to try the system, get the multi-pack of brush heads - the one with small thru large brush heads. Don't assume you'll be able to get away from floss entirely. If it doesn't work well, don't write'em off. It may work in 5-10 years. So far I've tried many brands of floss, floss holders, dental softpicks, the Philips Airfloss and the proxabrush system. Proxabrush is the first choice of my dentist. My hygienist couldn't stop beaming as she canceled the deep cleanings.5 stars

The Hygienist Gives Them 5 Stars
As a Registered Hygienist, I specialized in treating periodontal disease. To prevent the onset of this degenerative bone disease, you must clean between teeth. Brushing alone will NOT be enough. I wish it was. Using a good floss with a good technique daily is your best tool. However, in years of clinical practice, I noticed those patients who would not floss and preferred toothpicks did better using this product than they did using toothpicks. They are able to "brush" the plaque from between teeth. The little bristles do a great job of grabbing food debris and gently scrubbing the tooth surfaces between teeth where the toothbrush doesn't reach. These will not clean under the gums or the contact the way floss can, so I urge you to suck it up and floss your teeth. Use these for when you can't floss. I use them myself. These come in 3 sizes. Use the size that fits between your teeth without force or discomfort. Rinse the item well after use. It can be reused several times and replaced with a new one when the bristles or stem become bent. You will need a proxabrush handle to insert these into (sold separately).

Preserves My Teeth
I have been using Proxabrushes for about 40 years in order to take the best care of my teeth as I can. They work! But, they are not always available when I wish to restock. So, I found them on Amazon, and I purchased a large number of them, so they will last me for several more years.

get the other sort
no idea how people ever use these things between their teeth. Maybe they're meant to clean dentures? They're not terrible for cleaning out small gaps in machinery teeth and brushing debris away from the action of a pocketknife, but they're literally made out of twisted wire and plastic and having one in your mouth is an unpleasant experience.

Fits between teeth nicely
Cannot purchase these from stores in my area anymore and my hubby uses them exclusively. They fit his holder plus he likes the between-teeth fit. They are Christmas tree shaped and seem to work better than the skinny straight ones.

Interstitial brushes for the teeth
I've used GUM Proxabrushes for years. They're easily useful in that these small interchangeable brushes clip into the end of a long 'stick', making it easier to do some additional cleaning between the teeth without your hands reaching all the way into your mouth. This helps get rid of bad mouth odor from decaying food lodged between the teeth, but importantly supports good healthy gums and cleaner teeth.I've shopped this Amazon vendor before. The store carries a broad line of supplies at reasonable cost, and the store packs merchandise well and ships quickly.

Excellent product!
Interdental brushes are an essential tool, along with dental floss, for removing plaque from teeth and are best used immediately after flossing. There are other good inter-dental brushes, but Sunstar GUM Proxabrushes have the advantage of enabling one to insert the brush either from outside in or inside out (the latter being much more difficult with other brushes I have used). The brushes come with a short metal stem which is attached by bending the stem under a plastic cover at the tip of a plastic holder which one must purchase separately. Sunstar could strengthen the metal stem, which after much use sometimes breaks, but by the time they break it is usually past when one should change the brush for hygienic reasons or because the bristles become unavoidably less effective.
