Devastatingly good
Coco mellors knows how to write! No doubt about it. It was so amazingly beautiful in the beginning and as the story went it kinda made me depressed. Oh how I hated the characters! And I guess it all worked out in the end. I loved loved Santiago ❤️

couldn't live up to the hype
🌟🌟🌟🌟The main reason I picked up this book was because it was compared to Sally Rooney's works, and let me tell you, the cover was absolutely stunning. I was really drawn to the concept and understood why people were making the comparison. However, I found the execution to be quite disappointing.Firstly, despite the title suggesting a focus on Cleo and Frank, the story also revolved around a bunch of other characters. Normally, that wouldn't be a problem for me, especially with Sally Rooney's books where even the side characters are captivating. But in this case, I just got bored with all of them. Now, let's shift the focus to some positive aspects. While the book fell short for me overall, there were a few redeeming qualities that I appreciated. The author's writing style had moments of beauty and elegance, particularly in descriptive passages. There were times when the prose managed to evoke a strong sense of atmosphere and emotion, which added depth to certain scenes.Additionally, the book touched on some interesting topics. It explored themes of love, identity, and the complexities of human relationships. Although the exploration of these themes lacked depth and felt superficial at times, there were still moments of insight and thought-provoking observations. The author's attempt to tackle these issues deserves some credit. However, overall, the book failed to live up to the hype and the comparisons to Sally Rooney's works. The characters felt selfish and immature, and the story lacked the depth and consistency I had hoped for. It left me wanting more, as it failed to delve into the intriguing topics it introduced. In conclusion, while the stunning cover and intriguing concept initially drew me in, this book ultimately fell short of my expectations. It had its moments of beautiful writing and touched upon interesting themes, but it failed to deliver a cohesive and satisfying reading experience. Ultimately, it was a messy book that couldn't live up to the hype.

Fascinating, A love letter to life, people and relationships.
Cleopatra and Frankenstien by Coco Mellors is a special book. It’s special to me and I feel it’s special for the world.Cleo is an artist, Frank owns an advertising company. When they meet, fall in love and marry each other, things seem perfect. But nothing ever is.I loved this book from beginning to the end. The first chapter of this book is the best first chapter of all the books I’ve ever read.As we go on, we get to know a whole bunch of other people who are related to Cleo and Frank. To experience these characters from all these different perspectives and approaching them all differently is the best part about the book. All characters are so different from each other with different ideologies and approaches toward life and people in general and to see them colliding together in such a beautiful way was an experience in itself. The writing is so lyrical I just devoured it from beginning to end, every part of it still clings to me. Cleopatra and Frankenstien is a love letter to life and relationships, it gives so much to the world and I’m really thankful I got to read it!

Tore through; cover-to-cover
Mellors has brought her uniquely raw humour and the New York romance trope to a perfect culmination. As an author (of whom I now expect more), her powers lie in her meticulous comedic timing and matter-of-fact approach to the same. One for the history books; a strong recommendation this side.

About People Who Need People
Intriguing story of how friends lives weave in an out to make tapestry. A demonstration of how no one’s story is every really just their own. Coco’s characters all have such depth, each pulls at you heart strings as they struggle happily and unhappily through life. you get to be the fly on the wall.

Cleopatra and Frankenstein
Ordered a physical copy after I lent someone else mine and haven’t gotten it back. I love this book so much (it was 100000 stars) and I recommend it to anyone! You might want to read the trigger warning list first though.
