Junk
Very disappointing. I have had this kettle less than a month and the blue enamel inside has burned/chipped off. The worrying thing is that I have been drinking these pieces of metal. Do standards even exist nowadays or does the cheapest manufacturer win the contract? This kettle is a piece of junk.

The whistle is wonderful! My husband and I can actually hear it
The whistle is wonderful! My husband and I can actually hear it. The tea pot is beautiful on top of our stove.UPDATE 1: It has been about a year and I am so disappointed. The interior of our red enameled Chantal has this "lining" which is no good:.....Premium "broiler" enamel lining provides extra durability for long-term performance......I discovered today that this interior is eroding. There is a hole, dead center on the bottom that is still eroding and getting into the water! How can any company make a tea kettle at the price of $84 made of materials that don't even last a year ! Indeed, that lining should never erode, nor any interior they decided to use. We need the loud whistle, so I'll try the stainless one because it seems that it doesn't have this coating on the inside. I wanted a porcelain or enameled interior to not experience the nickel contained in stainless. Maybe I'll just look for a good copper kettle. I don't know what they mean by ...."broiler enamel lining" ..... I know this -- I didn't deserve, nor my husband to have these "lining" particles in our tea. btw -- we have treated our red enameled Chantal like a piece of gold. It was never abused, and it looks brand new. The red enamel looked so beautiful on my black glass-top stove & we have red pots/pans.I don't recommend the ------> Premium "broiler" enamel lining provides extra durability for long-term performance <-------- for health reasons. Typical these days of Made in China products. Buyer beware.

What a shame!
Daughter-in-law requested this particular copper kettle for Christmas 2016 to replace her wonderful vintage one that finally wore out. Unfortunately the negative reviews about the super thin copper coating quickly flaking off were spot on. Shame on traditionally reliable Chantal company for putting their name on an extremely defective product! Could it maybe even be dangerous due to inner & outer coating coming off with just a few weeks of normal, daily use-? Who knows, but kudoes for Amazon's always easy return policy so DIL can send back & use gift card credit to buy a different brand.

Many people report that the copper finish comes off. Chantal is aware of the problem but refuses to stand behind their product.
I owned one of the Chantal enameled steel tea kettles for over 10 years and loved it, so when I saw a friend had registered for the copper version on their wedding registry I was excited to purchase it. So excited, in fact, that I bought one for myself and gave away my old kettle. What a mistake.I have quite a few pieces of copper cookware and love the patina it accumulates with age and use. But this doesn't develop a patina, the copper simply comes off in flakes. I've never encountered copper plating so thin, especially on a tea kettle that costs $160. Every time I clean this kettle I loose more and more of the plating. I wish I'd paid more attention to the reviews that mention this exact problem. And as far as the warranty goes, think again. This kettle has a 1 year or a 5 year warranty, depending on which part of the kettle you're having issues with. From Chantal's Web site:"This warranty does NOT cover (1) ordinary wear and tear (such as scratches, dents, cleaning issues or stains to the stainless steel or copper's external or internal surfaces that do not impair the functional utility of the product),..."I've contacted Chantal several times and been told that this was either ordinary wear and tear or a cleaning issue and is not covered under the terms of the warranty. This kettle was not abused, boiled dry, or cleaned with anything other than vinegar and salt solution that the company suggests on its Web site. This kettle looks great out of the box and does continue to function well, but eventually the finish will come off and you're left with a really ugly, over-priced kettle. My advice is to save yourself some money and heartache and keep shopping.

Returned -- Very Dissappointing
We had to return it, the whistle would not stay up, and the gasket did not seal properly so steam escaped from around the top. This was the second one of these kettles we had to return due to quality issues. We contacted Chantal for assistance, but were not able to get any. This was intended a replacement for a previous Chantal tea kettle we had for about 15 years and loved, unfortunately we are now looking at products from other manufacturers -- for the price changed I expect higher quality and better service.

I contacted Chantal hoping for a replacement considering the poor quality of the kettle and that I had purchased ...
I will never buy this product again. Within 3 months of purchase, and after minimal use, paint had chipped off the exterior and interior of the kettle It was no longer usable because the interior paint would flake into the water. The kettle also rusted on the inside where the paint had come off. The screw that attaches the small handle to the lid of the kettle also often unscrewed and came off. I contacted Chantal hoping for a replacement considering the poor quality of the kettle and that I had purchased it only 3 months ago. They offered very poor customer service and said it was not their fault and that they could only offer me about $20 off a new kettle. I used to manage a retail store where we sold Chantal kettles among other high end cookware however I will NEVER purchase this kettle or any kettle from this company again.

Love this - except for 1 thing
This replaced an older Chantel that i accidentally left on the burner long after its water evaporated, destroying the induction plate in the process(a big no-no in Chantel's directions. . .but I had the thing for nearly ten years).Nice addition to the last purchase was the inclusion of a little quilted handle mit(thank you!)The only improvement is to open the lid without having to pull the lid off. . . other than that - great kettle!

I would not buy this
1. crazy expensive - was a big gift so bought it even with poor reviews2. Arrived, looks great but would not whistle3. Unlike the photo the top handle is super close to the lid handle - there is no way to pick it up without touching the lid handle = burn. You have to use a big oven mitt, thats the only way, the tiny handle thing they provide helps with top handle but then your knuckle hits lid top - ask me how I know!Poor design all around. Returned it 3 days after getting it.
